I'd rather not...

Everton 0-2 Liverpool

Fernando Torres struck twice in three minutes as Liverpool comfortably eased past Everton in a one-sided Merseyside derby.

"It feels as if I have been on a permanent honeymoon since I arrived here, I am on a cloud and I feel as if with Liverpool I have found the love of my life."

I don't know mate, I give them the bestest closing sequence of the greatest European Cup Final and they still all sit there. It's just you and me against the world kid.

It was Baros' goal.

Smicer's initial shot was going wide.
[/quote]

No it wasn't, x 2. Don't you think Baros would have claimed it if it had been?

I do love Rafa. He ain't perfect, but he's red through and through and he's getting us closer and closer to the league by the year. The stat earlier about this calendar year being our biggest points haul was a great one. Keep it up Rafa.

"I said: 'Don't let your heads drop. We're Liverpool. You're playing for Liverpool. Don't forget that. You have to hold your heads high for the supporters. You have to do it for them.

'You can't call yourselves Liverpool players if you have your heads down. If we create a few chances we have the possibility of getting back into this. Believe you can do it and you will. Give yourself the chance to be heroes'."

IT'S been a fantastic end to the year for Liverpool and it looks like 2009 could be very special.Back in August most Reds went into the season hoping rather than believing that Rafa Benitez's side could win the title. But things have changed and there is now a confidence that Liverpool can last the pace.Supporters are starting to believe and rightly so after two hugely impressive performances. The thing that really pleased me about the games against Bolton and Newcastle was that we took the game to the opposition from the start. When we've been drawing games at home this season we haven't been starting brightly enough. We've been too hesitant and it hasn't been until late on that we've really upped the pace of the game. It's vital to start well, especially at home, as it gives the crowd something to shout about. In the games against the likes of Fulham and West Ham the fans were quiet. But the way the players started against Bolton got the crowd going and the players responded. It was vital to get back to winning ways at home and Robbie Keane took his two goals brilliantly. It was a real bonus that in both games the points were wrapped up early on so the manager was able to make changes and give players like Steven Gerrard a rest.I thought Liverpool were fantastic at St James' Park on Sunday and the 5-1 scoreline really flattered Newcastle. The fact that their goalkeeper Shay Given was man of the match says everything.I've heard people talk about how bad Newcastle were but Liverpool didn't let them play - we were in a completely different class. It could easily have been 5-0 at half-time and the game just highlighted how big the gulf is between the top sides and the rest in the Premier League.I couldn't believe the amount of space they gave Gerrard and he punished them with a stunning performance. He showed again that his delivery from set-pieces is world class and they are almost impossible to defend. What made the result even more impressive was that it was achieved without Keane who had done so well against Bolton two days earlier. With Chelsea only drawing at Fulham, it gives the Reds a nice three-point cushion going into 2009.The players and the manager are obviously reluctant to talk about title hopes but I think this could be our season. We've already beaten United and Chelsea and we're going into New Year knowing we are capable of beating anyone. When you look at the points we've dropped at home it could have been even better but thankfully the other top sides have also slipped up.We've enjoyed a bit of luck at times but we don't need good fortune at the moment because we're in cracking form. With a fresh Fernando Torres coming back to fitness, I'm really excited about what 2009 has in store for the Reds.
