Is it simply that if Sturridge has been with us in August there is fuck all between us. Very even squads I think which means we are good enough to challenge ????

I think they've got a bit more depth and they've also got alot more power through the middle and genuine pace, but like for likes, on paper at least, there's not alot to choose between us I think. I thought we were really unlucky at WHL,

At WHL, bar those opening 15 minutes, we dominated and should have got something. That's footy though.

They're better I think - but it's a smaller gap than the point gap between us!

Yep, the depth is a big difference. They can bring on players like holtby and dempsey that can make a difference. We're getting there, but they definitely have more power and pace in their team.

I was going to say they've better depth. But that's been mentioned already.

I think their second keeper is a bit better than ours too...

if you compare our seasons in PLwe have same record at home and same defeats away but they have drawn less away, that's it

So frustrating

It's good that we've now got their former youth coach. He seems very sharp and focussed and looks likely to speed up the development of our young players.

Was he critical in the development of their kids? I can't remember the last 'excellent' Spurs youth that actually came up through this system .

It's ok Fox.
Bale will go in summer and a lot of their squad is aged Adebayor, Defoe, gallas, Parker, Dempsey etc they have a great core in
Lloris
Walker
Akottou
Lennon
Holtby
Dembele
Caulker
Etc
But a lot of it hangs on what Bale does.

They have a very similar summer in store to ours. Biggest signing will be the players they already have.
I'm confident that our really young squad will usurp them and Arsenal as a minimum next year.

Well they beat us last season. But Inglethorpe coached everyone in that system since 2006. Borrell is brilliant at shaping teams and whole generations in a certain style and attitude, whilst Inglethorpe is outstanding at working within such teams to highlight the potential of individual players and then develop them, so the combination is, as far as I'm concerned, absolutely brilliant.

Let's hope the sound of that translates onto something as positive on the pitch.

They have a better squad, but we're not far off. XI vs XI we're slightly better imo.

I would say they have a better defence and midfield, especially out wide but we have a much better attack. Lloris is like a younger version of Reina, great reactions plays like a sweeper and recycles the ball quickly, so Id say he is marginally ahead of Pepe based on recent form

I think our squads are a lot closer now than they were at the beginning of the season. I think it's more of a case of there team playing better together and having a better winning mentality, we're starting to get there though, and Sundays game will be a fascinating one.

It's not really 'frustrating'. We have markedly improved our side in January, whereas Spurs have had that side since the start of the season.

If anything the similarity between the squads shows where we should be next season.

Defoe should be listed in the starting eleven instead of Adebayor, since he gets more of the minutes.

Anyway, right now, there's too much experience and tested quality on their bench, so you'd have to give them that edge. They're justifiably ahead of us in the table. However, in a couple of seasons, give or take a couple of guys and if our bench guys listed above (or the upcoming youngsters like Ibe and Teixeira) develop/settle as planned/expected, I think we will have a solid, reliable 18- or 20-man-deep squad for the first time in ages.

Spurs are around 2 transfer windows ahead of us, they having been buy quite well of late.

Many predicted the demise of spurs when they going to loose Modric but instead they look stronger.

Even if they loose Bale, cant seem them collapsing, as mentioned by others, as thier squad depth is pretty good.

It's lose not loose !!!!

Are they going to untie Bale or something ? Did they have Modric tied up to a chair and finally release him when Real Madrid succumbed to their ransom demands eh?

LOSE.
