they really are a bunch of deluded fuckwits.

SOS, just for the record,

the response from the owners is brilliant.

I'm really beginning to believe (with their actions in the last month especially swaying me) that these guys might just be the real deal, and in it for the long haul to boot.

SOS got fucking owned.

They realize they need to get on the fans forum thing now as it's been made very clear from the start the owners aren't interested in giving them the sort of special status they obviously crave. I really hope they don't make it, but they probably will have a voice.

On RAWK most people seem to be pretty enthused by the response from Henry and agree the tone of the original letter was a bit off. It's the SOS 'secretary' giving the same stock answer (we sent it after consulting with our members etc.), which is quite ironic.

"PS the article you refer to references someone “a Liverpool man through and through.†Obviously we have no idea who this person was, but as your question as to whether this characterizes the view of the Club, the answer is no. And that is probably why he was an unnamed source."

LOL

SOS will wither away now that the ownership situation is resolved. Hopefully the few that remain will not struggle with the fact that they are a standing army with no war to wage, and try to wage one for no reason.

Hahaha. What article were they referring to?

I don't think they'll get a voice on the forum. Why would they be given a voice ahead of other supporters groups, some of which are larger.

My main concern is the stadium.

NESV merely hinted that more time will be required. I'm not too sure, what exactly for ? To raise funds ? Redraw the plans ?

IMO, everything about the growth of this club to the nxt level hinges on the stadium. Shall we build a new one or extend Anfield ?

Either way, a decision has to be made because no way will we be able to sustain Liverpool's finances in the long run without an increase of our stadium capacity, if we were to run it as a company/business.

What a fantastic reply. Superb
Indeed. Bravo.

And what a cunt of a letter in the first place. Honestly.

Just went through the SOS memo. I thought their language was way too aggressive. I also think it is way too early in FSG's tenure to be asking such direct questions.

I am also not sure why they are aggressively promoting fan ownership. I know Barcelona and Madrid have this model, but I dont like the idea of annual presidential elections and the associated shenanigans and promises.

Whats SOS response to this been?
SoS said:
Many issues remain unanswered and we hope future communication between the Club and supporters will ease any concerns about the issues discussed. We have responded by thanking him for his response and clarifying that the email address used to send the document is the work email of a Committee member used as a convenience.

The announcement of the Liverpool Supporters’ Committee was broadly welcomed by the Spirit of Shankly despite the initial lack of detail about its operation and as a result the whole issue will be discussed at the Union’s Annual General Meeting which will be held at Zelig’s, Liverpool 1 on the 12th February 2011 at 11.30am. This is the day of the home game against Wigan.

The Union's Management Committee will be asking members to back a resolution encouraging the Union and its members to engage with the Liverpool Supporters’ Committee to include members serving upon it. This, and the other resolutions submitted and discussed at the AGM, will be subject to a full online membership vote and the AGM will be recorded and available for viewing in the 24 hours after the meeting has taken place.

An announcement about the AGM has been made but any resolutions or items for discussion should be emailed to secretary@spiritofshankly.com

I gotta admit I'm going RAWK now in the hope of seeing some mongs boot off and throw toys out of prams.

Is anyone here a member of SOS or mates with members ? If so i'd be interested to know what their general opinion is on the current role of SOS. I mean they were mainly set up to force the previous owners out and i suppose they played a part in that although probably not as much as they think. Now , well they seem to be trying to reinvent themselves and want to be the "official" supporters club and are being quite aggressive in achieving that . Well that's the way it looks from the outside . No doubt they have good intentions at heart but eventually they will have to start trusting the new owners , give them some time and try to work with them and all supporters groups for the benefit of the club . Surely they realise they are not the voice of all liverpool fans .

Me too Krump. I wish I could lay into them and get banned again.

"SOS are clearly not just another fan group, because urm, we just aren't, and it's almost as if they are trying to marginalize us."

Of course they are being marginalized, and of course the club wants the interaction on its own terms, and not in the terms of a group that doesn't even know how to write an effective letter. The executive summary of that letter would essentially be that they want to know everything going on at the club on a board level.

I'll miss the videos of the parties the most. They were very helpful.

...and when NESV clearly have their measure?

That reply from NESV is a work of art BTW.

That SOS letter was drivel and cringeworthy, demanding this and that from the owners whilst blatantly saying their ultimate aim is for NESV to be done away with as supporters take over the club.

The NESV response oozed class and was the politest and smartest 'fuck off' I think Ive ever read.

That response brought maximum hilarity though. Just seeing it mentioned made me chuckle.

It may also have been pivotal in our recovery given that, if Hicks Junior had stayed on the board and the size of its membership hadn't been increased, his dad would have been able to vote down the measures by which he was finally removed.

Sweet. 8)

We should send our own 6CM effort to NESV.

I vote for Avvy's Lucas flag as a first contact.

Haha. I think we'd bypass the fan forum and get a board seat straight away.
