In fairness though, it would be harsh to drop/rotate anyone from Suarez, Sturridge, Coutinho or Downing

Coutinho looked a bit knackered when he came off against Spurs.
I'm a fan of playing the same team though. Sturridge will be in much better form aswell.

Yeah BR has said he's only 60 percent match fit. I know what you mean about keeping the same team but in this case I would bring in Hendo just because it's away and Southampton are a good team at home imo.

They're pretty nifty on the break too, which we'll have to watch. Hopefully this isn't the inevitable banana skin that's always just around the corner. It's like playing fucking Mario Kart.

LOL - Only without the heat seeking red shells!

Wish we had a few fucking blue shells

Henderson on the right wing's never really worked though. Until the summer Downing is the absolute best option on our right.

I mean go more 433 than 442. So hendo doesn't go out wide, he stays in the middle, front 3 to offer the width.
For me it's pretty much a toss up between playing hendo or downing, they've both improved a bit and neither are currently playing like liabilities. The rest of the team when fit picks itself really.

Hmmmm I wouldn't say that. He wasn't as good as he has been but he did just return from injury and he really did improve as the game went on I thought.

His work rate up until our second goal was abject. He didn't work their back four enough or Scott Parker who was dictating the tempo from in front of his back four.

Yes, he was coming back from injury, but he looked lazy and disinterested.

The crowd were starting to get on his back a bit too.
It's a bit of a concern but he has acknowledged that he didn't play as well as he would have liked and prior to this his attitude on the pitch for us has been first class.

I mentioned this in the game thread, but I'm starting to worry about his body language on the pitch, he doesn't seem to celebrate goals with the team and almost seems like a strange out there, bit like Torres at Chelsea, maybe it's just taking him time to settle in here.

I don't know about that mate.
Him and Suarez came out for the second half, arms around the others shoulder, and were quite animated in their chat.
They seemed to have a good rapport and I don't think that Sturridge has any problems with his team mates or them with him..
He may be the type of player who gets easily frustrated and his play and form drop accordingly

Really? Why?

I just think that it gives us a proper middle 3, then suarez, sturridge and coutinho moving about upfront and providing the attack.
I think with downing playing (and I'm not against him playing) we go more 442 or 4222 or whatever it is. I think those 3 in the middle give better balance.
I think hendo and downing have been playing at about the same level as of late, pretty decent, so I'm not aghast to see either start.

Sturridge looked well off the pace last week, but I reckon that's just temporary until he gets his match fitness back.

W should play Coutinho rather than Henderson. He's been class and is in form so should keep his place. Why change a winning formula?

Because our midfield gets overrun too easily as was evident against spurs.

Hopefully that's it, maybe he just doesn't go crazy when a goal is scored like everyone else.

But Bale FC are far better than Southampton. I think we often try and be too clever for our own good.
Hahahaha its Bale fc now? Shit just seen my post has been edited as well.

Anyway I dont see it as being too clever but keeping a nice balance between midfield and attack. We need more control of midfield, but that wont happen with just gerrard and lucas.
