4-2 away at Utd. Who are an in form team.
Horrendous luck all season with injuries etc and we’re a sniff away from champs league again.

folk still think the whole squad needs sacking off? That it needs a total rebuild?

Short answer is yes.
We absolutely need a revamp. We're not chasing, fourth we're title challengers.
We need a new striker, a backup DM and possibly another wing forward.

The problem isn't the starting XI, it's the backup.
Firmino had a great game today, but his season can't be judged by one game.
I'd love it if we managed to sign a top class striker.

I'm honestly happy with Philips, give him a new contract. That makes it 4 capable defenders. Unless you insist on replacing either Gomez or Matip.

I was down on Phillips purely because of the pace / high line plan but he’s earned a place in the first team squad at the very least. Loads of teams would love an aerially dominant centre back, never mind a young English one.

If this was Football manager 22 and I got the team this summer I'd put the following on the transfer list:
Keita
Ox
Shaq
Origi

That's at least 80 mill.

I honestly can't see that making more than 60mil but maybe I'm wrong

We can't get less than £20 mill for a £50 mill player like Keita.
Ox is English that's at least £20 mill.
Origi, is a young-ish striker. In the right system he'll get you goals. At least £20 mill.
Finally Shaq, that's 10 mill.
So, all in all. 70 mill plus for all four.

Since we ditched that crazy high line defence we have been more or less quite tight and hard to score against bar some deflections etc.

We need more back up. Our best team is still a match for anyone. So no overhaul needed.

Unfortunately our back ups aren't cutting it. Although I'd have liked to see Klopp give them more of a chance.

Keep Philips and Williams. Bin off Wijnaldum, Oxlade, Keita, origi, Firmino and possibly Mané. Tie up Milner as a coach.

need a right back support, a real centre mid and 2 forwards. Wouldn’t be arsed seeing Alisson replaced.

Shaq, we should get £15m
Origi,hmm £10m if that.
Ox, unless West Ham decide to give us £15m, I just can't think of another club who will pay a few million quid and pay those wages.
Kieta, we might be able to get £20m, would Leicester do swap plus cash deal?
So £60m possible.
You then have Grujic £12m, maybe?

I think you're underestimating Edwards.
Also, other than Grujic, there's Wilson and Minamino.

Wilson has done enough to get a chance with Elliott. Minamino, his stats aren't bad considering the minutes his had, 4 goals and 2 assists - I think Klopp will give him another season, personally I would sell.

No way is Allison on any transfer list.

He has the occasional lapse, always did in his very first season with us but his skills far out way those. He’s saved us more times then this infrequent lapses has cost us.

Wilson is like 24 and playing in the Championship. Just not suited for us. He definitely gone.

Philips has 2 years to run and he's on £60k a week. In another month or two he will be 5th or 6th choice. There is no way we should be offering him a new contract.

I think Grujic may be worth a squad role, particularly if we lose 3 or 4 CMs this summer. Hes done well at both Hetha and Porto.

Gini, Keita, Ox and Milner could all be done this year.

What is the world coming to when a 5th choice CB with no first team appearance manages to get a 60K per week contract. That's crazy.

He’s cost us by being injury prone.

60k a week? Are you sure that's right?

I mean after this season he's earned that at another club, but not sure we'd have given someone with no first team appearances at that point 60k a week.

Staggering, but he’s right. On more than Trent (because he was leaving on a free and we had to scramble??? Who knows)

Not sure there’s a way back for a player you tout around to absolutely everyone, and say you will not under any circumstances loan out.... then don’t get any takers, don’t want him in the squad, and have to loan him out.

players like him Origi and Shaq show the transfer market conundrum- it could be anything in the summer. They’re all probably £20m players, but with their wages who knows who will take them on. If any one of them went to Club Brugge for £3m you wouldn’t be surprised, similarly if they went to Watford for £15m you’d also be unsurprised. The market is going to be schizophrenic

He was leaving on a free, the club had no 4th choice senior CB so they panicked and gave him a 3 year £60k a week deal. There no way on earth I'd be extending or improving those terms

Eh, I had to look it up cause I didn't hear about Philips getting a new contract.

According to The Athletic’s Simon Hughes, Phillips has two years left on his current deal with Liverpool. The 23-year-old signed a long-term deal with the Reds in 2019as per the club’s official website – but details weren’t made public.

Were we panicking in 2019?
