So Yeah... Huddersfield (a)

Rumoured team:

Karius
Gomez Lovren Matip Robertson
Milner Hendo Can
Salah Firmino Mane

It is rumoured that VVD won’t be risked playing twice so close together following his recent injury.

I want our midfield to consist of Milner, Henderson and Chamberlain. We need some experience and leadership right now. Lovren deserves a start ahead of Matip also.

Agreed on midfield. But Klavan ahead of Lovren... Is he injured or something?

The lack of strength in depth in attack is really concerning. Salah-Firmino-Mane surely can't play every game till the end of the season.

Coutinho's main value was the luxury he afforded in resting at least one of the 'Fab Four'.

We're going to get fucked at some point in the coming months, aren't we?

Yup.
We're like Jenga, if one player is out the whole thing topples

The defence has got even worse since VVD turned up. Cliche but apt: You're only as strong as your weakest link, and when you're stood next to Matip and Moreno with Ming behind you, you haven't got a fucking chance.

I'm as concerned about VVD not being able to play
Well yeah, but tbh if Moreno plays he gives them an entire side to attack against almost at will, & like we saw last week, he pulls the centre backs out of position in doing so as they try desperately to cover that gaping hole where a full back should be.

The fucking useless tool.

VVD will be an issue, but I've watched Huddersfield a few times & they've not looked good at all from set pieces, they're actually way worse than us at defending & attacking them.

We'll probably be missing him most when we have a corner, as they really are shite at defending them (yes, worse than us) & I think his mere presence would make them fall to pieces.

I haven't got complete faith in any of our midfielders especially away from home. There's no point in playing Wijnaldum away as he's a passenger and Can won't care as it's not a high profile game so by default it has to be Henderson, Milner and Chamberlain which is hardly inspiring.
Karius will start so there's no point choosing which keeper you hate the most as Klopp has made the decision now and will almost certainly stick with him until the end of the season.
Defensively apart from Robertson and Van Dijk the rest of the defenders are as bad as each other so it doesn't matter which clowns he picks really.
Up front it would be taking a big risk to start either Solanke or Ings so I doubt he will.
The hope is that we take enough of our chances so that the inevitable Huddersfield goal doesn't get them an unlikely win or a creditable draw.

I was thinking more for the long term, he hasn't played much in the past year and isn't able to play consecutive games for us

I'd forgotten about AOC. I'd like to change my team:

Mignolet
Gomez Klavan VVD Robertson
AOX Can Henderson
Salah Ings Mane

Rested on Tuesday for a game on Sunday. I hate modern football.

Played on Saturday evening, 72 hours ago.
Not sure why people make such a big deal out of that given he has missed quite a lot of football and Klopp said he wont be rushed back.

I expect Hendo back for this. Below is my prediction not the "what I would play in Footy Manager"

---------------Karius-------------
Gomez--Matip--VVD--Robbo
-----------Hendo--Can----------
----------------Ox---------------
Salah------Firmino-----Mane

I'd like to see Lallana get a start, maybe in the place of Ox.

Edit: Just realised this is the same as @Hansern

I'm not sure where that confidence in Ings comes from. I saw him play maybe a couple of times for Burnley and he looked decent enough, but nothing amazing. You could argue that getting 11 Premier league goals for Burnley is impressive, but he's only scored two more since then for us, and been eternally injured since.

It's not really possible to say how good he is, or could be (or was).

There's just not enough evidence.
There's little evidence to support my confidence BUT I've watched him at 1st division and Championship level too and he has always looked quite average until a half-chance presents itself and next thing is the ball is in the net. IMO he's a top goalscorer who, given decent delivery, will score goals at any level. His 11 goals for Burnley was an amazing return given how few chances they made for him.

I think the fact that he's finally at a BIG club and this is his chance to be a big star, added to the fact he's been out injured a long time might be playing on his mind a bit. Not that he has missed any gilt-edged chances but there has been 2 or 3 half chances that he hasn't finished (although he was on target each time) and I would have expected him to have scored 1 or 2 by now.

I still think he has what it takes (but it's just a hunch) and I believe if he scored one soon he will follow up with plenty more.

The usual caveat applies; I am the 2nd most optimistic poster regarding LFC players (doffs cap at Hansern) on this forum and my faith is rarely rewarded.
