So who will be the biggest improvement under Roy?

Gerrard - No, he won't get better as a player but he will do much better. He wasn't happy last year, he seems to be much happier this year.

Kelly - Roy has faith in him, and seems to be a 'good teacher'.

Pacheco - he'll get opportunities this year. I just hope we're not expecting too much as bar one assist for a Ngog goal last year, he's not impressed me that much in his limited action for Liverpool.

Was tempted to say Gerrard, but I think most expect it from him.

I really think Babel doing well would shock most.

Come on Ryan!

Some good calls LTW. I think Kelly might be a great shout. I've always thought he has much better concentration than Ayala, who is a good lad, but blooper prone. He showed that he provides an option at FB, but Roy is still likely to strengthen this area so we'll see. I'm going to say Aquaman. I think Roy will tease out his considerable talent this season.

Babel and Aquilani! Both have potential which will be realised under Roy because he'll be willing to put an arm around them. They'll get enough playing opportunities.

Babel - I've always said under a Wenger-esque style manager he'd do well, he needs the arm around the shoulder and assured "Your a great player" type statements.

Aqualani - We saw last night, the touch is still lacking, but he's going at it 100%

Pacheco - Will be given game time, if only as a sub throughout this season... Needs to learn that in the seniors, you can't run at players than just shoot with your eyes shut. But that will come.

Lucas - Roy looked furious at times last night with his decision making, expect him to play the ball faster over the coming weeks and months.

Kelly - Unfortunately I don't think he'll be in the team come the season start proper... A good prospect to take over from Carra proper in the coming seasons though.

N'Gog - Scored 3, missed 13... His positioning for me looks much improved from last year.

I really like Kelly, the more I see of the lad the more I think he looks the real deal. No nonsense, good solid defender, quick and technically pretty decent too.

I hope this is a big season for him.

Babel - He will improve on last season, as hodgson gives him a chance and gives him the love and attention he needs

Aurelio - I think when fit, we will have one of the best left backs in the premierleague

Lucas - Is shit, and hodgson was angry with him in lastnights match. I expect him to become a better player but still be shit

N'gog - 3 goals already this season, i think he will be our most improved player this season

Pacheco - Will get some sub appearances but i dont think he will be amazing as he is still a raw talent

Kelly - Hopefully he gets more game time as he is obviously a good player. I think he will be good when coming on or playing

Aquilani - I think if he is given game time, he will become one of our favourite and most important players. He just needs a chance and confidence shown in him

We've said that for three years now. He will get injured.

Gerrard will be re-invented this season, after the depressing affair last year. I dont expect anything different from Babel, or Lucas for that matter. Joe Cole has given me wood and I expect that to continue.
Most importantly, I expect the defence to be much more assured and keep many many more clean sheets than last year.

Spearing...

i think Rafa ruined his confidence.

Hahaha

Aquilani

I want to think so too, but I really don't like him playing as the one of the deeper too. I think he's still too sloppy on the ball at times and loses it easily, which is much harder to recover from a deeper position. I'd rather see him in the offensive three, he always looks to play a quick and attacking ball which we really lacked last season.

Only thing Rafa did right, i hate spearing more than i hate lucas and insua put together

If Roy can turn Babel into the player he should be, I will seriously start to get excited about his management.

Indeed. Providing he shows the right attitude, I'm curious to see what Roy can do for him. A season preview in one of the broadsheets highlights an upturn in morale within the squad with Roy treating the players with respect as adults as opposed to cogs.

Kuyt. I think if our training methods focus more on control and passing he could become amazingly good and even more versatile.

I wonder if he'll experiment with Babel as a striker? Seeing those efforts N'Gog spurned last night reminded me that Babel is at least an instinctive finisher (though he doesn't have the clever movement of N'Gog).

And I'm not trying to be a smart arse
