Besidest he obvious - an Angolan born 21 year old midfielder from Sporting who'll probably be in Portgual's world cup squad ...

Quite a few articles today of Manure being willing to match release clause (£37m!!!!).

Has anyone watched him play? A mate from Portugal says the guy is the real deal but 37 million!?!?!

Talented player but not proven in any shape or form. 10-15 mill would be alright I guess considering the potential but 37 mill is just taking the piss. Dont think that will happen either.

As long as the likes of Chelsea and Man C are willing to pay premium for players, these clubs will continue to ask for silly fees.
We're being linked with Shaw. Apparently his price tag is £30 million. What did he do to warrant that price except being young English and talented?
In that case Sterling is worth about £30 million as well.

Shaw @ 30 million!?!? Even if he had an rich Russian or Arab, I'd be against spending this money now ... he's good but 30 million?

I hope someone reminds old Moyes about when at Everton he'd do nothing but complain about how much more money LFC had and how HE had to use his incredibly shrewd judgement to bring in anyone. Now he's throwing 30 odd million at each target, so on his logic they must guarantee success.

Sterling is worth about 30 million though.

There's been another massive injection of dosh into footy, and that means prices are through the roof again.

I think you can make a case for Shaw being worth £30m, at least in isolation. He'll be 19 in the summer, and it's really rare to have such a young player ready to go straight into the first team. You're conservatively looking at getting 13 good years out of him. He's got to be worth £25-30m on that basis.

The problem is that there seem to be alternatives who would be much cheaper, so compared to them I'm not sure he's worth it. Ben Davies at Swansea, plus Ricardo Rodriguez at Wolfsburg and Moreno at Sevilla are all very highly rated as well.

That I think is the clincher-- there are cheaper alternatives about, I'm sure. It just takes better scouting.

Yep, if we were to sell Sterling now it would be 20 million at an absolute bare minimum.

Pete says it with Shaw, you can add to it with all the major clubs here needing a left back also, and the English quota coming into it with certain clubs needing English players, thats going to add on to his price.
