How do you think it will perform ? (no I wanted that one jokes please)...

I think they will compliment each other, carroll the work horse, louis the goal getter.

We just need a decent winger to make the most of Carrolls height.

I don't think we have to view this necessarily as a partnership, you'd have to say that Carroll will be the fulcrum of the attack and then the likes of Gerrard, Kuyt and Suarez (or whoever else) will feed off that. I think we're just as likely to see 433 with Kuyt, Carroll and Suarez, as we're as likely to see 442 with Suarez and Carroll leading the line.

my concern isn't about THEM, it's about the rest of the team.

a) will the midfield give them decent service?
b) will the defense just hoof the ball up to them?

that's what concerns me.

i think we'd need to play Gerrard on the right of midfield to get the best out of Carroll, until our summer wingers arrive.

They will become death, destroyer of defences.

Seriously though they will mean hard work for any opposition, Carroll an aerial threat as well as big and fast in combination with a proven international player with guile, speed, a proven goal scorer and a huge will to win.

Bring it on.

was thinking the same. I would bench kuyt and play gerrard there if that isn't an option then play aurelio and move johnson to right midfield.
also I'd play cole on the left of midfield as I think he'll offer more than maxi.

I'm concerned about the lack of pace. With Torres leading the line, pace wasn't an absolute necessity for the attacking three behind him. Our need was to have strong, skilful players behind him and the idea in getting Suarez was probably that.

But with Carroll leading the line, our style of play will be different. As Mark has pointed out, Carroll is likely to be fulcrum of the attack, with the attacking three behind him trying to play off him and burst forward. I don't see a trio of Gerrard, Suarez and Kuyt quick enough to be able to do that. Suarez is fairly mobile and quicker than Kuyt, but he's no speed demon. Kuyt has become painfully slow of late, and even Gerrard seems to be slowing down. We desperately need a searingly quick wing-forward in the summer if we want our Carroll led attack to be potent. Someone like Hazard, Costa or Elia.

Also, we'd need a steady supply of crosses for Carroll to feed on. I'm looking forward to when Johnson can re-claim his right-back spot and a new overlapping left-back. Someone like Tremoulinas.

Once that happens, I can see this attack being extremely dangerous. For the time being, I have a strong suspicion that both Carroll and Suarez are going to have a slightly frustrating time.

I agree, we still need someone to get in behind. Though Johnson is capable, to be fair, but we definitely need that third addition to the attack, in the shape of a quick, skillful player.

Having said that, I also think with Carroll and Suarez, we're going to hold the ball a lot more in the attacking third. A more possession based game with more players coming forward, and we could possibly see a more effective unit.

I don't think Torres showed much in the way of pace, strength or desire for the past 16 months or so.

Carroll+Suarez>>>>>Torres, no doubt.

So the deals are done. Still can’t believe Torres is gone. I never get annoyed over players leaving but this one cuts a little deeper. His stupid comments about now being able to play for a big club make it worse. Not cause he thinks that, but because I believed he understood Liverpool, while all along he was a mercenary, biding his time until something better (in his eyes) came along. Now people will say we should cheer and applaud him for the goals he scored to show him what he’s leaving, well I say bullsh1t. Cheer the new lads, cheer the manager, cheer the players who actually want to play for the club. Boo him until he cries.

Now Carroll. This one worries me. The fee is huge (he’s something like the 5th most expensive player ever), he’s injured, he’s not scored a whole lot of goals, he’s in trouble with the police a bit too much, but more than all that, he’s a Geordie. Now that’s not meant as a slight to Geordies. The problem is that they never really leave the place. They always want to be back there, and I fear that we’ll never see the full potential of Carroll cause his heart won’t really be in it.

The worry over Suarez is the same as all the players who come out of Holland. Will he be able to reproduce those goals outside of an inferior league. Too many players have looked world class over in Holland and then failed miserably once they try and step up. I know people will say he’s done well internationally, but that’s a different game, and least we forget Diouf looked a world beater when he played internationally before we bought him. Suarez also has some questions to answer over his temperament. Just been banned for biting an opponent has to be a worry. And some football fans will still question his cheating at the world cup.

Hopefully it all works out and Kenny is a genius and these guys score 50 goals a season between them for the next 10 years. Then it’s money well spent. I just finding it hard to see it right now.

Sound we we' ll have a forward line that will beat the hell out of defensive lines if they don't get their own way..

One who will beat lumps out of you, whilst the other will bite chunks out of you....

lumper & chunker... Should set em on el cunt against chelsea..

Because they're so different, I expect them to do well. The one thing that they have in common which is the most important thing is they're know how to finish. Both have raw talent are relatively young and hungry with much room for improvement.

Pretty excited to see how Carroll bullies opposition defenders and makes space for Suarez.

I wonder how the twat/Drogba partnership will go seeing as Torres struggles to play with a partner.

t-orres is younger so if drogba doesn't dovetail with t-orres they'll just buy someone that does.

If you watch the Suarez goals compilations, you can easily noticed the link-up play between him and huntelaar. I don't think he'll have any problem linking up to Carroll.

I expect 40 goals between them next season - if they stay fit and we buy a good winger and a new Mascher.
