If he signs then yeah, of course, me too. I think he's a decent player, but like with most of our signings in recent years, I reckon we'd find ourselves wanting better after a while.
Ings looks ordinary to me, we need much better. Berahino has a much higher ceiling but looks like he is off to ManU and as his agent is the same as Sterling's I can't see much chance of us doing a deal!

He'd improve the fluidity and unpredictability of our attacks, IMHO. Sturridge and Sterling this season have grown more and more static up front. Ings explores and exploits every space he can find up front. At his best, defenders are chronically unsettled and unsure of where he is and what he's doing. We desperately need someone to give us goals like Suarez did, but Ings would certainly restore to the team that energy and invention that's been so painfully lacking this season.
I'd be reluctant to take £40m for Sterling but £50m and I'd take it. We have Lallana, Coutinho, Markovic and Ibe who can all play wide or off the main striker. We could spend that £50m on a real beast of a CM'er like Pogba or half of it on Carvalho.
Pogba would never come to us and I doubt any other player in that tier would either - they have better options.
The problem with players like Ings is that whilst they have qualities we need, they typically only fulfill one requirement and we're left having to compensate by using other players to do what they can't. It's hard to get players who are the complete package like Suarez was but right now it feels like we have too many players that are dependent on others to do their jobs.
Yeah Can might be the one, I said that earlier this year.
He's not quite there yet in terms of consistency but id like to see them together. They'd be good enough to allow us play a back four again if we had a couple of decent full backs.
He's also not there yet in terms of discipline, and I'm not talking about the Red Card. He does like to go walkabout and in that instance he's no better than Gerrard, in fact SG is probably better.
