there is another thing that I like about rafa (although it's kind of irrevelent to winning games) is the guy 'gets' us. I have no doubt in my mind all the fights he picked (with the old owners and parry) was for the benefit of lfc, it would have been easy for him to just pick up his checks and just do his job but he brought attention to the yanks, and fought our battles even though it ultimately cost him his job.

I look at hodgson, even when he first arrived and he doesn't get us at all they is why I feel no obligation to support him even thoughI've been brought up to support the team through thick and thin.

yeah, there's no doubt rafa 'got' us like few others could. he was a real fighter.

At this point in time, i'm finding it hard to waste my time by thinking about Benitez. I know he was one of our great managers and it is a bit disrespectful...

but fuck Benitez.

Lets lock this thread. It's all about the king!

Can someone answer this question...

Which of our decent players would have a problem with Rafa coming back?

And maybe they might even be relieved he's come to save the day..
Gerrard and Torres to name two. Carra might well join them as he's said publicly it was time for Rafa to go.
Are you sure on Gerrard and Torres? They'd be up in arms? Torres? Really? Why do you think this?

Just for the record, no-one said "up in arms", mate. The question was which of them would have a problem with it and there were persistent reports of dressing-room disaffection in the papers and on the radio at the time, which were confirmed for all to see on the day Rafa subbed Torres, Torres made his puzzlement clear and Gerrard turned away from the incident with a face like thunder.

But Roland's right. It doesn't matter any more, and halleluia to that.

there might be plenty more to back up the claims, but imo torres looking pissed off at being subbed in a crucial match is very, very, VERY flimsy evidence of some sort of major rift between him and benitez.

Peter- once again, no-one's alleging a "major rift", but IMO such public dissent - especially against a manager known for his lack of willingness to bend under such pressure - is evidence enough of disaffection, which is all the original question referred to.

Roland - IMO highly unlikely, and Rafa accepting the job would be even more so.

Well, let's agree to differ then. Torres giving an interview before Rafa even left to the effect that whatever happened to Rafa wouldn't affect his (Torres') commitment to Liverpool tends to confirm me in my view. I don't believe for one second that he'd have said something like that if he was still behind the guy by then. He'd simply have batted the question away if he had been.

1. i never said there wasn't the possibility of other evidence. in fact i said the opposite.
2. exhibit 'b' you give above i'd also consider of negligible relevance: it's just a typically bland, 'footballer', plea of loyalty to the club. meaningless.

Danny Kelly on talksport just called Rafa a 'nonce' on air.

Fucking southereners all backing Roy the Englishman

I take it the thick 'cant' doesn't know the meaning of the word then?
