Snooker at the Crucible

I do hope the properly focused O'Sullivan turns up this year. He's the greatest talent the game has ever seen and I really enjoy watching him play.

Can you believe that it's 25 years since Taylor beat Davis 18-17 on the final black?

I hope he gets dumped out in the first round, so a player with a bit more character can win it. Talent doesn't excuse the way Ronnie has interviewed over the years.

Stevie Davis has become the oldest player to win a match at the Crucible since "Steady" Eddie Charlton in 1989.

Good match too. Never seen Davis so animated. He did a proper Peter Ebdon shout after potting frame ball in the final frame, before realising very quickly afterwards that there was every chance he could still lose. He was a quivering wreck by the end of it.

Good drama.

Eddie Charlton! There's a name. Boring as anything to watch on the snooker table, but an accomplished sportsman. From wiki:
"Eddie himself was a senior grade footballer, a champion surfer, a good cricketer and boxer."
Wiki also states - "Known for playing with a very straight cue action and rarely hitting the cue-ball with side" Haha!
Good for Steve Davis - will get battered by Robertson after narrowly beating the younger Higgins, though!

Yes, Eddie looked anything but athletic as he plodded around the table. I also can't see Davis giving Higgins much of a game.

doesn't it make you feel stupid? when you come out and back the likely result so that afterwards you look like you're clever and you get things right. doesn't that make you feel stupid when it doesn't work

Just stated my expectation that Higgins would batter Davis (as he should have). Trying to be clever? Just in your mind, perhaps, but I won't let that bother me. I'm way too smart for that.

I have a tenner on Steve Davis to get to the final at 50/1 and another tenner on him to win at 650/1 🙂

I'm not counting my chickens but I am getting some fun out of my bet.

;D

Surprised to be watching snooker in Italian. Didn't know they'd heard of the game.

Oops - heard the start Que maravilla (sp?) which is almost the same as the Italian (Che meraviglia), and tuned the rest out. Of course you are right.

Well, O'Sullivan has done it again. Gave up in the deciding frame when he only needed one snooker. How can such a gift be given to such a pathetic shit bag?

He's a ballbag.

Fuck him. He's had far too much leeway from the game and it's supporters over the years.

I know what you mean - happily for me, I'd had enough of him long ago and was delighted for The Jester. Glad to see the back of O'Sullivan. Now, let the best man win (just hope the best man is English).

What the fuck's with all these 147 signs the crowd have got? Is it meant to be like the 180 signs in darts?

How often do they expect to use them?

yes he should stretched the game out for the sake of mooney's tv schedules and a russian betting syndicate

I see that John Higgins is suspended for taking bribes to throw frames. Steve Davis must be well chuffed.
