Would you sell?

His value?

They're offering £5 million.

Skrtel's worth about £8M

Decent CB, nothing special, limited potential.

Having signed a contract extension last Aug till 2014, can't understand why he's valued lower than the fee he was signed for - it's not like he become worse, has he?

Skrtel won't be going to in a hurry. They're 16th and could be relegated.

They may offer £5 but we don't have to accept. He is our player so we'll determine the price.

I'd sell him. Always thought he'd push on to something very good, but sadly that doesn't seem to happen. Not good enough if we want to win the league.

Sell for 8-10 mill

Why is a Serbian international, playing regularly for a top 6 premier league club, worth less than a Danish international, who is struggling to hold on to a place in a side that is likely to be relegated in the Bundesliga?

they can fuck off with that offer....

Skrtel is a much better defender than he's given credit for; his problem is that he needs guidance, which is why he's only any good with Carra. BUT this is the most important bit, he is GOOD with Carra. For npw. more pressing problems lie elsewhere.

Yes.

Carra made mistakes galore at his age and only really blossomed into a centre back you could rely on when he was about 26, Skrtel has been pretty faultless since Kenny came in and has gone back to no nonsense and less flapping, like the rest of the back four.

Agreed, plus he's both the quickest and the most physically imposing of our first-choice CBs (i.e.if you don't count Soto for physical strength). Every player has his price, but I'd set Skrtel's a fair bit higher than £5 mill.

Well yeah, 5M is a shit valuation really, but I doubt it's a real one.

Around the 8M mark is probably closer to his true value unless a cash rich club are intersted.

Straight sawp for kjaer!!

That could be the deal of the century.

Potentially.

I'd very much doubt they'd accept that however. Skrtel + £5M perhaps and it would still be a good deal.

In my opinion.

It's easy to talk about fucking Skrtel out when Agger's fit; to talk about the same when he's broken is a different matter though.

Assuming we get Kjaer instead of Skrtel; we'd have Carra, Agger,Kjaer, Greek and the youngsters Wilson and whomever.

I can very easily forsee a problem in 2 years if Carra's off form/injured and Agger's broken (which he will be).

Bombing out Skrtel is probably viable only if we sort out LB and move Johnson to RB and Kelly to CB.

....and no one has really seen Kelly at centre back yet at this level. It amazes me that people keep saying, "oh but we've got Wilson and Kelly can play there aswell", well yeah, they've both done it at a different level, but it's still a gamble, because neither have done it at Premiership level yet. They could both fail, they could both be great, the fact is though, we don't actually know, so until we do there's no point bombing out first team players while pinning our hopes on two youngsters who've never played centre back at Premiership level.

True Mark, though it's an exciting thought. I guess the problem is when to try it. It's a shame we couldn't beat fucking northampton.
