To be fair, the "advanced defensive midfielder" role Sissoko was played in was hardly designed to emphasize his ball skills either.

Momo had some absolutely brilliant moments worthy of remembering but, for me, he was not the same after the eye injury and we did well to see him when we did for the price we did.

Effectively i think he sees himself as a box to box midfielder (which is what he was) before he ended up being converted. Whats he going to say? "i'm playing here but i don't really want to". He's always going to say he's happy where he's playing as he's too nice of a guy to intentionally anger someone (that someone being kenny)
The position he's in now still gives him some modicum of license to go forward but generally you can tell he's told to hang back.
 
Remember when he had just agreed to sign for us and he said how he'd sort out Kaka (we had them in the final of the CL) if he'd been able to play?
