Modo

There's been a lot of debate about the two and I'm just wondering who you think was the better player?

Did Sissoko play better for us than Lucas has?

Lucas is undoubtedly the better footballer, although Momo was much more blessed in the athleticism department and - arguably - would fit better into our current system

Sissoko was absolute muck. Couldn't control the ball and every single pass was to the opposition. I guaran-fucking-tee you that statistically Lucas is the better footballer.

Sissoko was more dynamic and had much more of an impact on the game. We noticed him on the pitch when he played well.
Lucas isn't. He is the better footballer, though.

But IMO Sissoko had much more of an impact here. His first season was magnificent.
So I voted Momo.

Hope Lucas has his breakthrough next season.

I choose Lucas..

Sissoko was athletic but didnt have much of a footballing brain where as Lucas isnt that bad on the ball

Momo could be a bit brainless but at his best he was well better than Lucas, some of his tackling was excellent at times and he was a lot more skilful than people gave him credit for.

Would Lucas have destroyed Barca at the Nou Camp? Would Lucas have kept us in the 2006 Cup Final practically single-handed for much of the second half? Would he f'ck. Momo certainly had his limitations, but when he WAS good he was very, very good.

Momo.

couldn't have said it better. x2

Any time Momo actually successfully dribbled with the ball I reckon it was just that the higher power that has a grip over us all was off making a cuppa or just felt sorry for him! Lucas definitely for me!

Lucas is the better footballer; unfortunately he's a rubbish DM which is where he is playing for us.

Momo for a while was a very competent destroyer, and I would much rather see Momo in DM for us with Gerrerd and Ming in front of him.

Lucas is miles better than Momo. Momo had about 4 good matches in two years. He was fucking awful.

Lucas has had more than 4? Genuine question.
[/quote]Yes.

Technically, Lucas is well better. But Sissoko was a beast and could dominate the opposition and was a presence in midfield. Unlike Lucas.

The better 'footballer' is Lucas, but I'd rather have Momo.

This.

Sissoko suffered from the comparisons of playing alongside greats like Alonso, Gerrard and Didi.

Whereas Lucas now benefits from the comparisons of playing alonsgide Poulsen and Spearing.

Neatly summarised.

My god, some of you have got suspect memories.

Momo was shite 80% of the time, all of the time.

Lucas is consistently average at least with a few cracking games a season, Momo either turned up and bossed things or was a total mess; for every Chelsea and Barcelona there was a Crystal palace, Sunderland,Blackburn,West brom,Arsenal,Utd,Spurs,Villa,Norwich,Sunderland,Bolton, Birmingham, city, Everton, Fulham..

In terms of footballing ability, there's zero contest, only one of the two is capable of kicking a football.

Sissoko was also played in a system which suited him down a T - I.E little to no footballing ability required, 100% athleticism and grit required.

Lucas is played out of position, nine times out of ten.

Neither at their best have been good enough to warrant a first team slot..

Momo was a destroyer and won a great deal of opposition ball in the tackle. His problem was his passing after he had won the ball. That was a weakness in his game.

Lucas didnt start too brightly with us and is only now coming into his own. He wins his fair share of tackles but gives away silly fouls in dangerous areas. His weakness is the slowness of his passes and he often gets caught in possession. He needs to move the ball quicker. He may turn out to be a better player long-term.

However over the course of both their careers at Liverpool to date, Momo was better.
