Sir Kenny Dalglish

The fact that it is associated with the royal system and many people are clearly republican does not diminish at all that it is an honour and a deserved one.

I respect Sir Kenny and he has every right to be proud of himself.

I also like that he mentioned the fact that Bob Paisley and Jock Stein should have been Knighted also...

It’s always been upsetting to me as a Liverpool fan that they never did.

Sadly, the honours are handed out very often on a political basis but it’s nice for once to see that they are, on occasion, handed out due to well earned respect. The philosophical conceptual stupidity of Monarchy and the system and indeed the titles derived from the history of the country itself is a different debate altogether.

I’m genuinely happy for Kenny, for many people including myself, receiving that title is an official recognition that society itself has benefitted from your life.

I agree with Woland, Gene etc HOWEVER! It sticks that the ginsoaked one was nighted and hearing every cunt on sports broadcasting calling him Sir with fucking bullshit reverence.
So at least it redresses the balance again.

Besides Bob should have been Sir Bob decades ago.

Him and David Cameron's hairdresser. The honours system is a fucking joke and I'm glad the club swerved it for so long.

So he hasn't turned it down (they only announce this when people have said they will accept - my father in law turned down a CBE twice, on account of being fairly attached to his kneecaps).

I can only assume that the plan is to turn up, and when Lizzy lays the sword on his shoulder, he grabs it and skewers a few corgis, before running amok in buck house ripping down tapestries, priceless paintings and taking a dump in Charlie's apartments

Obviously it has nothing to do with the in-breds in the castle. There's an eight-person group who recommend sporting honours to the Downing Street honours committee, and after those nominations have been vetted by the civil servants the invitations go out. I think Giles Clarke from the ECB heads it at present. Curiously, Graham Taylor used to chair the sports group for a decade or so; I would've thought he would've pushed for Kenny to be nominated, but for whatever reason his name never went forward.

Don't look at me, pal. I had an entirely different view about the right reasons for handing honours out.

Signed Christ.
