Well, if I were going to try and defend the decision I'd refer to his time at Fulham and West Brom, jobs which (one could argue) were similar in status to the gig at Palace and in which he actually did OK, because that's his level. But I wouldn't try too hard - basically they're thrashing around in desperation.

I assume this is some sort of interim solution, which is so clearly not what CP need.
What do they so clearly need? They're Crystal Palace.
They regularly talk loftily about their vaulting ambition and the need to play expansive football and blah blah blah. I seem to recall Pardew and Parish talking similar bollocks at the start of the season in which he got sacked, but every time they try it, it goes horribly wrong and they end up having to ask someone like Allardyce to rescue them, despite making big statement signings like Cabaye, Sakho and Benteke - they played for Liverpool you know!
Same with De Boer. Vision, plans, ambition and look at us! We've appointed Frank De Boer! He's famous! Ajax! Titles! A philosophy of playing style!
