Papers' production gets move date
Liverpool Echo
The first edition of the Echo was printed in 1879

The owners of Liverpool's two daily papers have confirmed that print production will be moved to Greater Manchester at the start of August.

Following an announcement last year, the printing of the Liverpool Echo and the Daily Post will be moved to Oldham.

From October, the Liverpool Echo will also be released earlier in the morning to "compete with the nationals", said a Trinity Mirror spokesman.

The Daily Post will not be affected by a change in schedule.

The spokesman added: "The current challenging economic conditions mean difficult decisions have to be made for the long-term protection of the Echo and its staff.

"The Echo is making this move to safeguard its future."

The Daily Post was first published on Lord Street in 1855 while the first edition of the Echo was printed in 1879.

Sell out cop out Bastards I'll never buy it again!

If Cumbrian sausage has to be made in Cumbria to carry the tag, and Cornish Pasties in Cornwall, they should drop the 'Liverpool' tag now
