I was watching the Napoli game and saw that the stadium had a empty stands. I do not watch a lot of Serie A games but I remember seeing similar empty stands atleast 2 to 3 times whenever I randomly flip channels and catch a Serie A game. I maybe wrong here but I remember a Juve home game and they also had a lot of empty seats last year.

Is it common in Serie A? Any particular reason for it? Did i just happen to catch games where there was some bans due to crowd trouble? It always strikes me odd as I rarely have seen professional games with so much empty seats.

I'm seeing the same thing in Spanish games, now that I'm following Suso.
I think it's more to do with the economy than bans.

If it was the economy couldn't they do something to get more fans in. When you have entire stands empty, you can make the tickets free. Get some fans in to create an atmosphere.

Maybe interest is a factor as well.

Hooliganism has ruined the Italian league, and Spanish footy is about as interesting as the Scots Premier League.

A small number of clubs getting super wealthy at the cost of the rest is a load of shit. The Sky system ain't perfect but it does keep things interesting.

Quite possibly

Maybe some of our resident serie A experts @Roopy can shed some light

There's a few contributing issues contributing to minimal crowd attendances:

1. Hooligans & safety concerns.
2. Most stadiums are fucking woeful with shit infrastructure.
3. The main reason - all league games are live on television in Italy. Why go to a shitty stadium with safety concerns when you can just watch it from the comfort of your home?

What about the French league? They have some horrible crowds even to see the big teams play. Germany is laughing at all of these leagues and their shit fans.

The Premier league had an average attendance of 35,900 last season.
La Liga 30,000 and Serie A 25,000

The Bundesliga were top with 42,600.....

Did anyone do the away trip to Fiorentina a few years ago?

Their stadium is a prime example of just how shit stadiums are in Italy.

The away fans are basically locked up in a cage.

The home fans - located behind either goal - are seperated from the pitch by a running track & then 30 metres of grass packed out with billboard advertising.
