September International Break

It was reported last week by The Athletic that we have a strong interest and will be among his suitors next summer.
Where he ends up will be the biggest talking point through the start of 2023 I reckon, but we're certainly not out of the running. If the fee is quoted in excess of 100 mill £ I doubt we'll get him regardless.
Then you could argue if our midfield is better served with two 50 mill signings instead. But that is another debate.

Harry Kane has scored 51 goals for England

57% of those goals have come against teams like Panama, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Albania, San Marino, Malta.

61% of his England goals have been penalties.

Imagine if he was young enough to develop and fulfill his potential under a really good manager. Oh..

How old do you reckon he will be before he learns how to control a football? Cos he's 24 next summer, we're not talking about a kid

He wouldnt be a professional football player if he couldnt control a football. Its the same argument as "even I could score that goal". No you couldnt.

It's not the same argument at all, and it's one I didn't make. But if you want to demolish a strawman go ahead.

You do realise that when people talk about not being able to control a ball they aren't actually meaning like he can't but that his control is no where near the level of players around him.
Do you actually think there is nothing wrong with his control? Who would you put his control on par with in our team?

I have no idea, but if you read the comments its described as he's some kid that won a competition and got to be a footballer.

I think its one of the areas were he has the most work to do in terms of how he can be a vocal point for our attack.
That said, I think one of the reasons it looks like he has trouble controlling the ball at times is part of the adaption to the league, the pace and the intensity. Several other players have looked the same.

When people say control, are they basically referring to first touch? Because for me Salah's first touch has been heavy many times....but his close control when the ball is at his feet is brilliant.

Because control of the ball can also be seen as how you dribble with it.

For me Thiago's control is exceptional and the best in the side.

The Premier league has nothing to do with it tbf as his control was an issue that was mentioned by a few before the deal went through. I had hoped it was just bogus youtube vidoes that was just a collection of poor control to make him look shit. His transfer fee isn't his fault But when we pay 65-80m for a player I'm sorry but you have to expect that while he might take time to get up to speed with the prem lge he'd still be able to do the basics. He may well come good, would love to be proved wrong but I see nothing in him to make me think he has this massive potential that I keep hearing about.
This isn't a slight on him, but I do think the club fucked up and went for him because we were trying to compete with city City buy haaland. City can afford to make mistakes in the transfer market and just get another dodgy sponsorship to buy a new player but we really cant do that

his first touch is terrible, ball bounces away from him often. He really doesn't have much close control but that's OK because thats not the kinda player he is.

Without a doubt thiago's control is the best in the squad. I go as far as to say alisson's first touch is better than nunez

[article]Liverpool striker Diogo Jota admits he asked to be substituted during Portugal's Nations League defeat to Spain.

Jota has revealed he asked to be taken off during the Nations League loss due to fatigue.

The 25-year-old made his first start of the season away to Everton at the start of September, having missed the first month of the campaign due to a hamstring issue that was aggravated during pre-season. Jota has since featured in Champions League games against Napoli and Ajax before reporting for international duty.

"I didn't have a pre-season. It's only my second game as a starter this season and I was already feeling a little tired at the end of the season," he told O Jogo.

Providing further context to this change, Portugal coach Fernando Santos said: "Jota asked to leave. It doesn't matter now, but that wasn't the replacement I was going to make. I was going to put Jota in a different position so that the team could go up and have more possession. I brought in Vitinha and João Mário to have more possession of the ball and to play. We couldn't and we started to retreat. Still, we had two great chances, but we didn't score."[/article]

Translation - "Fuck you Bruno fuck you Ronaldo fuck you Bernardo, I miss Salah Nunez and Bobby."

I'm not surprised, he really hasn't played much football in the last 6 months. Perhaps he needs to hire a personal masseuse and chef to get him up to speed
