Liverpool have announced the ticket prices for next season, with an increase of 7% hitting supporters who are already incensed with the club's American owners. There had been fears the new ticket prices would be higher as the announcement was late but even so an increase is not going to be well-received with the team finishing seventh in the league and missing out on Champions League football.

Supporters will also argue that an increase could have been avoided althogether if the co-owners, Tom Hicks and George Gillett, had not loaded the club with debts of £350m. Kop seats will be £680 online (£732 at window), with the Main Stand, Paddock and Centenary Stands £732 online (£785 at window) and the Anfield Road end, £722 (£774 at window), according to the club's official website.

The long-awaited details came as a new report showed Liverpool are the third highest paying club for player wages in the Premier League, up 18% in 2008/9, according to the Liverpool Echo. The season ticket prices are understood to be based on purchases being made before June 25.

Liverpool are currently looking for a new manager after Rafael Benítez left the club by mutual consent. Roy Hodgson appears to be the front-runner but there have been no confirmation of talks between Liverpool and his club Fulham or the manager himself.

We were one of two clubs that didn't do anything with our prices before the 09/10 season, so it was coming.

Still, it's cheaper to get a season ticket at Anfield then at any of the other big clubs.

Uniteds cheapest tickets are £513. Ours are £680.
[/quote]

But their most expencive ones are £ 931 and our most expensive ones are £ 774.

Overall I think we've got pretty decent prices in comparison to our rivals.

Arsenal, although brand new stadium, have £855 - £1,825

Chelsea, last years prices, and could still be increased. £635 - £1,125.

Match day tickets, we're lower than our rivals. Against some, with a large margin aswell.

I can understand your frustration mate. But 7% isn't bad compared to the other teams.
Still, after a shite season like last one, increasing the prices is well, a bit badly timed to say the least.

The extra money could be hard on some fans though, I can see that point.

The renewal has a "WORD FROM THE CAPTAIN" on page 1.....
As we prepare to look forward to another new season I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your incredible support and the backing you continue to give our football club.

We never take it for granted, but to know you are there with us through the good times and the bad makes us all more determined tan than ever to bring silverware back to Anfield

That will be the target again this season - as it is every year- as we look to challenge for each of the trophies we're competing for. We know it won't be easy because the other top sides share our ambitious dreams, but together I am confident we can achieve the success we all crave.

As Captain , nothing would give me greater pleasure than to lift more silverware this season. We've enjoyed some unbelievable highs over recent years and I see no reason why we can't taste some of that success again in the future.

It will be another long campaign full of ups and downs and twists and turns , but we have a genuine belief in our squad that we can be a real force in both the league and cup competitions.

I hope you all enjoy the 2010-11 season

Steven Gerrard

Oh I think the increase is better than expected Hansern. I'm relatively happy with that given the reduction last year. 25% would have been a piss take. 7% is reasonable. The only problem is what team will we be watching next year ? God knows.

Easiest thing in the world to support a winning club though,

As if Gerrard penned that. I've just bought mine anyway.

Oh I am not naïve enough to think that he did for one minute Sunny, but the wording is very positive and he has put his name to it. Some could renew on the basis that the suggestion there is that Stevie is going to be battling away for us next season, it just makes me think (which can be a dangerous thing)

I didn't think you did think that Vladders, not for a second. Wonder if he actually agreed to that? Yeh it would be good to see Gerrard, Torres, Masher in a Liverpool shirt next year that's for sure. Plus new responsible owners. And work starting on a stadium. And silverware. And world peace.

The latter probably being the most acheivable.

An extra £53 to book another way to online? How the fuck can they justify that? What about people with no Internet Access? Robbing cunts.

"Inflation and the VAT change are the reasons for the rise," said a club spokesperson.

"In real terms there's no difference.

"Our season ticket prices remain extraordinarily competitive particularly compared with other clubs in the top half of the table."

Apart from the club that exist about 300 yards from us. Who finished about 1 place and 4 points behind us. And have fans who attend the match from the same socio-economic background as us. Somehow our tickets cost 50% more than theirs.

It seems I am not the only one to pick up on the significance of the skippers message, alright it's the Mail

Uncertain future: Steven Gerrard has been used in promotional material ahead of the new season at Liverpool

England skipper Steven Gerrard, who goes into another World Cup with his club future in doubt, is still being heavily utilised by Liverpool to sell season tickets and shirts for the forthcoming campaign.

Liverpool fans received their season-ticket renewals in booklet form this week, with Gerrard’s page one message giving the impression he will definitely be staying at Anfield.

He entices supporters to accept the eight per cent price hike by saying: ‘As captain, nothing would give me greater pleasure than to lift more silverware next season.’

Gerrard also models the new white Liverpool away shirt being sold online — with the club remarkably confident, despite their search for fresh owners and a new manager, that their talismanic midfielder will honour the two years remaining on his contract.

The second most prominent Liverpool player in the booklet promotion is Spain striker Fernando Torres, who has also been strongly linked with a move away from Merseyside.

Who doesn't have access to the Internet in Liverpool and can afford a season ticket?

It saves them time, wages and hassle if people book online and they represent this in the price.

Go to an Internet cafe then.

"Oh no, I don't have an ATM in my house, how am I supposed to access my money??!11eek"

Up to now, every year I have tried to renew my season ticket online, given up in frustration, and just written out a cheque and posted it.

This time I had to make it work because it was worth over £50 to me! None of my usual passwords worked, and when I clicked on the "email me my password" button, no email arrived.

I rang the helpline and the woman who answered was very pleasant and helpful. It turned out that the email address they were using for this particular purpose was an old one that I changed years ago. I couldn't have known this because my correct email address is shown everywhere else on the LFC website, and they send me regular offers to it.

When the email with my password arrived, it turned out that the password was something I couldn't have guessed and must have put in by accident.

If anybody else has difficulties renewing the season ticket, the helpline number is 0844 844 2005.

do you not know how many pensioners go the game? Are you saying every one is pc litterate? Even paying staff in the ticket office or phone line does not justify £50 per transaction.

I can think of two off of the top of my head, but they both have access to the internet.

Oi, that's ageist , but I do think you have a valid point.
The assumption is that everyone has some sort of ability to get on line

I'm watching you Rafa....even Portly isn't there yet 😉

Without the £53 discount for paying online, the price increase is over 15%.

£53 seems a very high amount - most business organisations might make the discount £5 or £10. It seems out of proportion to the saving involved. Surely it doesn't cost the club administration £53 to bank a cheque!

There is an ulterior motive behind it, rest assured.
We must be getting funneled down this route for some reason, it will cut some jobs, but there is more to it than that. The fangs of the spinning snake are behind this 😉

I'm saying everyone knows how to use a PC, or knows someone else who knows how to use a PC.

Silver surfers clog up the internet more than anyone

I don't think it's much of an issue

I believe they've already laid a load of in the ticket office Vlad. This is simply a cost cutting exercise forcing you to do the work.
