probably, given his time at Real. But I still think he ahs the potential to be a 20m+ player.

He's got talent, but his attitude might ensure he never gets the most out of his talent.

He's a good buy low candidate, but 9m is way too high.

I wouldn't even take him on a free. Yes, he has talent, but he's such a f'cking fruitloop that he'll almost certainly turn out to be more trouble than he's worth.

I'd take Drenthe for 9m.

If it didn't work out we'd recoup almost all of it but he has so much potential. Worth a gamble fo sho

I have some confidence about Hodgson in the transfer market and I think it's just because he isn't Rafa.
Are you really that fucking stupid? Benitez bought a player for 10 milllion and sold him for the 3rd highest fee in English league history.

Hodgson bought the likes of Kevin Davies for £7m and Andy Johnson for £10m

Given Kaka (who's under 2 years younger than Gerrard) cost them 60m, why not?
Cos Kaka's better...

oh no i didn't.

And then replaces Alonso with a broken player.

If we're really looking at Endo,

At least penalty kicks will be fun to watch (think he's missed 1 or 2 in his entire career):

I wouldn't fork out a cent for Drenthe. Real would want to get rid of him at no cost. He is a talented player with NO confidence. Imagine him getting booed in the Premiership and going into meltdown? I'd gamble on him but only on a free or minimal fee.

Liverpool player getting booed?

He'd have to fuck up in the extreme.

If it wasn't for the cunts on the board Rafa would have sold him for 12m a year earlier.

You're getting worse Brendan.

That's harsh - brendan has just taken over from Dreamy as our forum's resident doom & gloom poster. Rebel isn't anywhere close.

and he would have bought Gareth Barry, who would have been a better option that Lucas last year.

That's not saying much though, is it?

The Alonso saga contributed significantly to him losing his job.

As for Drenthe, he's got a bit of an attitude and he's been dogshit for Real, but beggars can't be choosers I suppose. 9M is a joke of a price, but for 4-5M it could be worth a shot perhaps.

If Hodgson is meant to be the type of manager that can get the best out of players, maybe now is the time to look at failed potential like Drenthe.

But a significantly worse option than Alonso. Even though as evidenced tonight - all Alonso can do is pass.

Barry has returned to being the distinctly average player he always was. As the old saying goes form is temporary, class is permanent - if Benitez had been a half decent judge of player he would have never attempted what he did.

Imagine Drenthe on one side and Babel on the other...

it would be scary if they were in form... however both are incredibly inconsistant and the last thing we need in our current situation is players with average proffesionalism.
