One look at his instagram page is enough reason to hate him

I suspect that if we took a closer look at most footballers private lives we'd end up hating them.

It's not like we have to be friends with them or anything. Who cares!

Can SCM sell some of the posters?

How much could we get for @Red Astaire? Not hugely talented but tries hard, kind of like The Dirkilizer.
Ha - I'm a valued commodity Ruairi. I once scored a hatrick of 3!..... Three brilliant put downs against Utd in a SCM thread back in March 2011.

We know that they're rich, we know that they live an extravagant life. But you've got to have class as well imo.

Some says that it's because he's young, but look at several other players his age who play for us.

Most importantly though, he's not good enough. He's doing well in the Championship atm and I think we can get a decent fee for him.

I'd sell Borini to Sunderland and take Johnston in return

Sell Agger
Sell Reina
Sell Lucas
Loan out the rest

We'd easily get double whatever Sunderland's willing to pay from an Italian club in all likelihood.

And Johnson is okay, but not a great fit for us IMO.

Why sell Lucas?

IMHO opinion our next step up is the title and a deep run in the Cl. To do that we need the very best and I think we need better than Lucas for that. He doesn't offer enough for me and would get is a decent fee

Do you advocate bringing in two new DM's then? One to replace Lucas as a depth option, and another high quality starter?

Or do you see the DM role being occupied by Gerrard long term?

I don't really know much about Adorjan, I believe he's off on loan in Eastern Europe?
He is at Groningen in the Dutch Eredivisie. Had a couple of red cards as well as a couple of goals. They seem happy enough with him but I doubt we will see him back.

I think Allen can fill that role as can Gerrard when needed against weaker teams but ideally I'd like one top class replacement brought in for that position

Our squad is paper thin.

We should be able to buy without selling.
Or at least buy before selling.

I think we'd be crazy to sell Wisdom this summer...........On the other hand, it's not out of the question that he could develop into a top class centre half within 2 or 3 years, if we just show a tiny amount of patience.
I'd sell: Borini

I'm really surprised that after your opinion on Wisdom you then go on to say you'd sell Borini. He's always been highly rated but is very inexperienced and lacks games. He's getting them at Sunderland and beginning to show what a good player he has the potential to be. The Guardian gave him the joint highest rating (8/10) of any player in the City - Sunderland LC final yesterday. If he can do that against City and under pressure in a cup final, then surely there is a good player in there.

Definite goners:

Reina
Touré
Robinson

Coates
Kelly
Allen
Suso

Assaidi
Borini
Aspas
Adorjan

Moses back to the Chavs
Cissokho back to Spain

We should recoup at least £25 million
----------------------------

The "sell if we can replace" category:

Agger or Skrtel (Illori will return to deputise)

We should recoup at least £8 million
----------------------------

What we would need to buy if all the players above are sold:

A winger
back up striker

starting defensive midfielder
Another midfiled playmaker

That would leave us with:

Two keepers (Mignolet, Jones)
3 Right backs (Flanagan, McLaughlin, Johnson)
2 Left backs (Enrique + Flannagan)
4 Central defenders (Sakho, Skrtel/Agger, Ilori, Wisdom, Caulker)
2 Defensive midfielder (Lucas, Fernando)
4 Central midfielders (Lucas, Gerrard, Henderson, Gylfie Siggurdsen)
4 Attacking midfielders (Coutinho, Teixeira, Alberto, Roberto Firmino)
3 Wingers (Sterling, Ibe, Coutinho, Konoplyanka)
3 Strikers (Suarez, Sturridge, Lukaku)

I don't think we'd sell Toure. As has been stated throughout the season - he is a quality 4th choice CB. He makes the odd blunder which is why there are players ahead of him in the pecking order but he is a great option to have to cover injuries and I would think he'd be a great mentor to some of the younger defenders on the training ground.

The players I think we'll get a fee for:

Assaidi
Coates
Reina
Aspas
Johnson

I don't think we'd sell anyone else. I'd expect Borini to be kept next season - Rodgers has worked with him at Chelsea, Swansea and now Liverpool. He is finally showing some form and confidence so why would Brendan want to sell? Maybe another loan but I don't think he'd cast him aside.

If all we bought was an experienced & commanding CB and another CM i'd be happy. And maybe a fullback if we sell Glen Jo.

We need a much bigger squad for next season, I can only see us losing the loans, and maybe 1-2 of the senior squad. We're just too thin to risk it. There's plenty I'd ship out, but I don't think Rodgers will. I'd pretty much buy a new back 4 minus Sakho.

Well I can see the argument but personally it doesn't convince me.

For a start, Borini *is* older and significantly more experienced than Wisdom. You can definitely make a case that enough has been seen to make a decision in a way that I just don't think is true of Wisdom.

Secondly, central defenders are relatively younger than strikers, in that they take longer to break through and show their potential. So the age gap is actually more like 4 years than the 2 it might seem.

Thirdly, as I hinted at, Wisdom's real potential IMO is at centre half. If he was a right back and was only ever going to be a right back then I might well conclude that I'd seen enough and agree that he might as well be moved on. But the fact is that he's got zero experience in professional football at centre back, so I can't possibly begin to form a judgement.

In short, on the balance of probabilities, I'd sell Borini. I think enough has probably been seen to make a sound judgement one way or another. He might improve spectacularly, but I can't see it ever being enough to start games for us, and he doesn't really look like an exciting option from the bench. Plus he's worth a decent amount right now, maybe as much as £10m, which would go a fair way towards a more promising striker, something I think we do genuinely need.

Enrique, Kelly and Coates are done

Aspas, Moses and Cissokho will be bombed off too. As will Assaidi if we get a good fee.

Can't see us selling many others. Tiny squad, we need fillers
