Salah, the man for the big/all occasions

[article]After getting involved in his 50th goal in all competitions this season for Liverpool, Salah’s 39th goal meant he had now scored eight goals in the Champions League, matching Eto’o’s record number of goals in one campaign, the highest by an African player in history of the competition.

Eto’o managed to achieve this feat in Internazionale’s remarkable 2010/11 season when they won the treble.

The ‘Egyptian King’ will be looking forward to etch his name further in the history books as one more goal in at least two matches can help him break this record. It is worth noting that aside from his eight goals since the group stages, Salah also managed to score once in the qualifying rounds.[/article]

Hes scored 39 in 44 which is fucking ridiculous. Its Messi/Ronaldo levels of scoring and already beaten Suarez best season.

That said Suarez had high production levels for three years, and I think Salah has far better players around him. He is very similar in style to Suarez.

Far better players?

Suarez may have had to put up with donkeys like Carroll, Downing, Joe Allen and Lucas on occasion, but his best season had Gerrard, Coutinho, Sterling and Sturridge all on top form. You don't see much better than that.

Very difficult comparison to make given they are such different players. At his peak Suarez just had an insanely high ceiling in terms of skill, but from what Ive seen of him recently hes no longer that player any more. He achieved everything he wanted at Barca and looks to have lost his edge, no way any sane person would swap Salah for Suarez now.

Madness. Yeah suarez was more stylish but alah is simply far moe effective.

Also the idea Mo is surrounded by better players is laughable.

He was played injured too long & then played too early & too often after surgery.

He's said as much in interviews since. He's not the player he was because it's fucked him up.

What should be done with Salah between now and the semi finals? He's not fit - that was obvious. Does he need more time off or more managed games? I'd be inclined to rest him, but then again a forward wants to get back in the groove.

Yeah, it is a tricky one. If there is a game to rest him, then surely Bournemouth at home is the one to do it? I'd put him on the bench, and give him 20-30 minutes later in the game.

He looked pretty fit to me, he was running all over the place.
Resting players is risky for both their and the teams form. If he isnt feeling that injury then dont.
I'd rather start him and sub him after 60-70 odd minutes.

Yeah fair point.
I actually forgot Sturridge was good for a season. My thought process was Gerrard was on the wain, Coutinho and Sterling works in progress.

I reckon Mo has a better team still.

We also had Moses- who Dave (you know Dave?) recommended heartily.

I'd also say that Henderson had his best season with us, and was excellent- and Lucas was in his Wonderman years.

I may be blinded by the current style of play but I think Firmino, Mane, (half a) Coutinho, Can, Henderson, Oxlade, Wijnaldum, Milner, Lallana is stronger than Sterling, Gerrard, Coutinho, Sturridge, Lucas, Henderson, Allen, Moses, Aspas, Borini

*waves white flag*

He definitely needs resting this weekend and whatever else it takes to ensure he’s in best possible condition for the semi.

Fair play to him for getting through the city game and he was a complete passenger for most of it. However, his goal showed why he had to play.
