So what's the deal with him now ? Is he a free man or what or Is this still pending a thorough investigation ?

Ive noticed hes started clogging up the internet with philanthropic posts and shit in French again after going dark the day the news started so I presume he's in the clear/ couldn't resist Instagram anymore

I think he is a free man, within reason...

However it is believed UEFA are seeking further legal advise in respect of whether the substance should be banned or not, hence why it has never been officially announced..

Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho is dedicating himself to his charity work in Africa as he waits to learn his fate from UEFA.

The France international, who failed a drugs test in March, is expected to discover early next month whether he will have to serve a hefty suspension.

Sakho was forced to sit out Euro 2016 as the saga rumbled on and he’s currently in the Ivory Coast showing his support for a number of charitable projects.

During his time in Abidjan he spent time with youngsters at a school for deaf and dumb students, while he also visited a juvenile prison.

The 26-year-old founded AMSAK which works with various partners in the UK, France and Africa to launch educational initiatives, sporting projects, promote access to health care, implement water sanitation solutions and improve the quality of life for impoverished communities.

Sakho, who is due back at Melwood for the start of pre-season training in July 2, also does plenty of work as an ambassador for the Liverpool FC Foundation - mentoring pupils at All Saints Primary School.

He was handed a provisional 30-day ban by UEFA in April after testing positive for a fat burner.
That elapsed last month and it emerged that in the defence submitted by Sakho he questioned whether the substance in the supplement he took should even be on the prohibited list given some apparent scientific evidence on its effects.

Rather than set a date for a hearing to consider the case, UEFA decided not to extend the player’s provisional suspension and instead ordered their own disciplinary body to investigate whether the substance should be banned. A hearing is now expected to take place in early July.

They can't retrospectively ban him for taking a an enhancement they're planning to ban. If it's not on the banned list there is little they can do.

Top Man.

Hope he's cleared of all wrong-doing and then sues their collective asses for denying him a place in the French squad for the Euros.

Hopefully he gets banned long enough to never play for us again, but short enough to still have the nice mediocre career he's entitled to.

The handling of this case has been absolutely atrocious. He fails a test, the club suspends him because it knows he'll be suspended by UEFA anyway, he gets suspended by UEFA, he misses the most crucial games of the season, he misses being included in his country's squad for the Euros, then UEFA lets the suspension end, doesn't ban him, doesn't exonerate him, and doesn't even announce any time when the whole sorry saga will end. They're so incredibly incompetent they should be banned themselves.

He'll be suspended, no doubt. UEFA make the rules up as they go along.

Vote out of UEFA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Being a weapons-grade idiot seems to be part of the person spec for a job as a national or international football administrator.

I need me some of that. New life goal: feed at the trough and try to be as stupid as possible.

Real shame the Canadian Soccer Association has less money than I do. Time to emigrate

Your missing the bit where Sakho admits taking the substance but his legal team (on his instructions) are arguing that its not a performance enhancing substance.

If Sakho's argument is correct and the ban had continued after that concern had been raised then Sakho would have had a case against UEFA.

This way, if he's wrong. He doesn't.

This isn't an example of incompetence. This is a drugs cheat arguing a technicality and UEFA taking a cautious aporoach. (As they would have been advised to)
