Southampton have sacked manager Ralph Hasenhuttl and opened talks with Luton boss Nathan Jones.
Hasenhuttl leaves the Saints after their 4-1 defeat to Newcastle on Sunday, which left them in the relegation zone after six losses in nine top-flight games. Assistant coach Richard Kitzbichler has also left the club.

The Austrian was the Premier League's fourth-longest serving manager, having taken over at St Mary's in December 2018. He is the fifth top-flight boss to be sacked this season after Scott Parker, Thomas Tuchel, Bruno Lage and Steven Gerrard.

Championship club Luton confirmed on Monday that they had given Southampton permission to talk to Jones. A statement said: "We would like to place on record that the Premier League club have approached the board in the correct manner, for which we are grateful, and that the whole situation is extremely amicable with Southampton and with Nathan."

Is the Luton manager that highly rated or are Southampton preparing for life in the Championship?

Ange Postecoglou is 'top of Everton’s wish list' to replace Frank Lampard with Blues hierarchy impressed by Aussie's 'fast and attractive football'... and he will come up against the Toffees on Sunday in Sydney

[article]According to reporter Alan Nixon, the former England star's job is on the line and Everton have already identified Postecoglou as the ideal man to replace him.

Nixon wrote in his Patreon that Everton's hierarchy has been impressed by Postecoglou's 'fast and attractive football' and by his 'straight-talking' approach.

Incidentally, Postecoglou and Lampard share the same agent - CAA Base - and will meet in Sydney on Sunday when Celtic face Everton in a mid-season friendly.

The former Socceroos boss has enjoyed a dream start to his Celtic career, restoring the Hoops to the top of Scottish football at the first time of asking as Celtic wrestled back the league title from Rangers in his inaugural SPL campaign.

Celtic finished 25 points behind Rangers in 2021 and lost three of Postecoglou's first six game in charge, before embarking on a 31-game unbeaten league run to reclaim the title and also won the Scottish League Cup final.

The impressive results have led to keen interest from Premier League clubs - with Postecoglou linked with the top job at Brighton and Leicester.

The Seagulls have since replaced the Chelsea-bound Graham Potter with Roberto De Zerbi, while Brendan Rodgers has at least temporarily put doubts over his future at Leicester to bed.

Fuck.. he was the chosen one for us next...

Michael Beale to Rangers, Neil Critchley to QPR. Nice to see ex-Liverpool back room staff getting their chances.

Are Chelsea really thinking about giving Potter the sack already?

Please, please, please replace him with Southgate!!!!

If they stay up I hope Dyche doesn't go there. They're vicious enough when we play them without that piggin troglodyte whipping them into an even bigger frenzy.

I don’t understand what happened here - why did Michael Beale leave QPR? I thought he was doing great there?

I think he was over performing with QPR and he knew it - only earned 1 point from his last 5 matches in charge there.

Rejecting Wolves only to end up going to Rangers made it hard to take for the QPR fans though. But I guess, such is the cruelty in the business that he might have go the sack if things go worse at QPR.

Probably a mistake to reject Wolves then.

He’ll never finish lower than 2nd and likely win a cup or two, plus get some European experience.

In a few years if he hasn’t made a colossal fuck up of it all - he’ll get plenty of offers for decent Championship or mid table Premier League sides.

Better than taking Wolves down, I guess.
