He just signed a new 3 year contract in April.

Maybe he was getting his eye in with the admittedly good signing of Demarai Gray for 1.7m. We'll never know now.
The blues I've been speaking to seem to think he's the scapegoat and the fall guy here. While he hasn't done a great job, most of the major failings have come from elsewhere.
