Central coast mariners have just signed Luis Garcia!!

Will be interesting to see how he goes.

Might even drag myself to go an A league game.

Generally speaking it's been fucking rubbish anytime I've watched it.

Its good craic, obviously the standard is nowhere near the premier league but its good to see live football. I head along to a few Sydney games when I can.

I've been to about 10 games but they all have been very poor, maybe Garcia can reignite my interest

City play CCM end of Feb in Melbourne.

I'm sure there will be a large Liverpool contingent at the game.

What are you expecting the A-League to be? It's a league that's only 10 years old, in a country of 22M people, in the middle of nowhere. If you're expecting it to be the Premier League standard, then that's your issue. Given the circumstances, it's a very good league. Some of the sides play terrific football, and the atmosphere at the right games is fantastic.

If the quality is not going to be of a decent standard then I expect entertainment, which for the games I've gone to have not been evident. I never said I expected it to be of the pl standard but I do want to be entertained and I've never gotten that when I've gone to a game.

When I lived in Sydney in 98/99 we used to go watch Northern Spirit at the North Sydney Oval. Fucking loved it. Friday evenings, in the pub after work, $10 in, BBQ on the concorse, beer, good singing, decent oppo fans and crowds of 15-18 thousand. Great fun.

Sitting in the stand in The Lying Rag getting shitfaced is OK in my book. Clearly, its a lower standard of game but there's usually plenty of action and lots of brilliantly disgraceful tackling that you don't get in Europe (fags).

The quality has improved significantly. There are a number of teams that try and play possession football and they do it very well.

My biggest gripe is the speed of some games. I've seen some right old snoozefests and the lack of attacking intention is embarrassing from some clubs.

Teams cannot be relegated so it makes no sense to adopt a boring defensive strategy and go out there to simply bore the opposition to death. The rare game against the table toppers might call for that approach but not all.

Building strong and loyal crowds is what the A league needs. Adelaide have been good to watch for the last few years but when we were winning under Kosmina we were horrible to watch. Long ball after long ball with 70% of our goals coming from corners or free kicks. People were happy watching as we were winning.... when we started losing watching Adelaide was painful and crowd numbers were on a steep downward trajectory.

Ryan moving to blow his load all over the central coast... What a promising lead... And then it's... This...? Move to chat please.

Meanwhile, we've got Jermaine Pennant in Singapore!
