I don't know, Klopp is not a miracle worker. The problem with Markovic so far has been that he couldn't adjust to the different level of intensity compared to what he was used to in Portugal, if anything Klopp's tactics will require even more intensity.

Klopp will probably play him in his natural position and not as a wing back.
He also might continue playing him when he's had a good game.
Wheter or not he makes it is a different question, but he'll have a better chance.

There was some talk of Markovic wanting to leave so I'm guessing the relationship with Rodgers wasnt the best.

Markovic has got pace though. Suggesting anything else is just weird after watching him play.

Markovic was a Young but Bright talent in totally New surrounding. Not sure if his English was any good, but swapping him from Place to Place and subbing him even when he played ok doesn't build up a player. Klopp has said the difference, he wants to develop players. So it is probably up to Lazar to show the character required to be a success in Jurgens team.

Most/all professional footballers have pace compared to your average man in the street (Jan Molby aside!).... but Markovic was described as "lightning fast"; I've never seen it. Maybe this was because of limited first team appearances, but even average-ish footballers with outstanding speed (Navas? Probably a little harsh) show glimpses of it most games. Markovic doesnt.

Thanks. And that was what I was expecting to see from him for us...but I never have.

I sit there waiting for it, and in fact one of the first things all the lads spoke about when he signed was "this boy's supposed to have serious wheels"...and then, nothing. Like I say, maybe limited opportunities, maybe I have unrealistic expectations of "lightning fast", maybe in this more physical league theres less opportunity to do that/more fear of getting a walloping tackle at that speed. Whatever it is, he has been incredibly underwhelming all round, even in regards to the most basic of his abilities.

I realise this could take the thread off track but there is quite a high probability that Pepijn Lijnders will know Ruben Neves from his time working at Porto.

A lot of it is due to the manager.

The twitterati have mentioned that Neves was recommended by Lijnders.

I understand that's what you want to believe (and god knows, I've probably had my own favourite's before that I refused to see fault in), but he really hasnt shown even the basics for us this far - and certainly nothing whilst hes been with Liverpool to support your assertion that hes our brightest young talent. U21s-wise - Can, Gomez, Ibe and even Rossiter have all looked far more comfortable in first team football than Markovic; and didnt come with £20m+ fees.

Like I say, I hope Klopp works his magic on him, but the fundamental lack of anything to get excited about whilst hes been with us is very concerning.

That is very similar to a lot of the clips we saw of him in Portugal - galloping into acres of space having built up a head of steam.

All well and good and looks great on YouTube but you don't get those opportunities too frequently at Liverpool, a lesson Ibe is currently in the process of learning (particularly when not playing at wing-back). Sterling (as he was used as an example) proved that he has the strength, acceleration and technique to make shit happen in all kinds of situations. Markovic hasn't really been able to show that yet.

If we do end up playing a more expansive game under Klopp and there is space for players like Markovic to run into, there will naturally be at least some improvement and whilst I do think there is a player in Markovic, has he shown enough compared to some of the other guys in our squad?

Yep, Markovic was very much playing within his shell here under Rodgers, which was a great shame. He was played at LWB for god sake, he was probably too afraid to over commit and give Rodgers a reason to axe him from the team. I really hope he returns to us and Klopp gets some time to develop him, I reckon there's a superb player in there, unfortunately I can't see it happening.

Yep, he won't be afforded the luxury of galloping into space time and time again in England.

I really hope he gets to come back in Jan and it works out for him with us. Does anyone know if we can recall him?

Markovic from what I've seen of him he is very much kick and run specialist, alot that Egyptian Chelsea stole from us. Saying that the kid has stamina and plenty of it. Which Klopp will love.

Porto are at risk of being charged and having a transfer embargo imposed on them:

Eliaquim Mangala's Manchester City transfer investigated by FIFA

Eliaquim Mangala joined Manchester City from Porto in 2014
FIFA have confirmed to Sky Sports News HQ that they are investigating Eliaquim Mangala's transfer from Porto to Manchester City for a possible breach of third-party ownership rules.
France international Mangala has played 31 times in the Premier League for City since joining from the Portuguese side in August 2014 for £32m.
Doyen Sports - a player representation company with bases in Malta and London - paid just under £2m in 2011 for a share of Mangala's future value with the expectation his eventual resale would be great than the investment.

City, who are not under investigation themselves, bought the centre-back three years later and Doyen received around £10.6m in their share of the fee.
And if FIFA's disciplinary committee decides that Porto broke the rules, the club could be fined or placed under a transfer embargo.
Mangala began his career as a trainee at Belgian club Namur before being picked up by Standard Liege at 17.
After more than 100 first-team appearances he joined Porto in a combined deal with Steven Defour for £11.4m.

He looked and played a bit like Aquilani to me - clearly talent in there but too much of a wet lettuce.

Hope we see something for our 20M investment but I'm not holding my breath.

The original wet lettuce....Smicer
Markovic is in that LFC family tree.
