Roy Hodgson desperate for new striker

We needed a striker in the summer, however Roy in his infinite wisdom decided that we should loan out an attacking central midfielder in order to spunk our entire budget on an attacking central midfielder (despite having one of, if not the best, attacking central midfielders in the world already playing there). We also signed a wide attacking midfielder under the premise that we would be playing him in the centre of the midfield.

No one knows the deal behind Aquilani, but he didn't seem too unhappy to be returning to Italy, with it being insinuated that he was shitting out of playing games last season, it's hardly surprising the club wanted to make a statement with him, and who knows, maybe he asked to return home. We needed a central midfielder anyway because Lucas was clearly not up to the task and Mascherano had left, so we HAD to buy Meireles. Joe Cole, on paper at least, gave us more options in attack and essentially replaced the departing Yossi, and as Vlad said, we were trying to flog Babel up until the last minute but he refused to go. Had he left we'd have bought a striker, end of.

N'Gog was fantastic today when he came on. The ball stuck every time (unlike Torres) and he played some nice flicks and cheeky through balls too.

He's still improving and at 21, there's plenty there to be hopeful about.

Like I said, Roy has to show confidence in the lad. He changed the game and gets us goals and results.

He is under utilised in a club crying out for results. Roy needs to man up!

Oh FFS this is getting very very fucking tedious.

Everything Roy says gets fucking sniped at and picked over trying to find fault.
Firstly in his quote he said "we are not that stupid", secondly Ngoo is an under 18 player, who as it happens is having to step up to the reserves presumably of the reasons highlighted. Roland, it's not about giving N'gog a chance , he has had loads, he is just lightweight and shit.
Dirk was supposed to be a specialist but was not very good at it and found a niche out wide , which he is not that good at either. Babel? well we have been arguing ourselves since he arrived as to what his best position is , coming up with the resounding answer (other than one or two notables) that he does not have one. He is certainly not an "up front " specialist.

Roy on this occasion is right and it is one of the issues that has affected us this season, last season and some of the one before.

Nice post Vlad.

N'gog should start with nando now cole is injured

Mereiles gerrard
Maxi jova

N'gog Torres

This shouldn't be 'news' We've needed a striker since Robbie Keane left in January 2009.
Since then we've had three transfer windows to buy someone - anyone, and we still haven't. Anyone who's not a complete moron knows we need a striker. The class difference between our first choice (Torres) and second choice (Ngog) is appalling. So you could say we need a striker, yeah. Insightful analysis Roy.

If Benitez had pointed out the obvious more often then he would still have a job.

Yeah, one of the main reasons I disliked Benitez was his handling of strikers. Sell Keane in January who you bought for £20m in the summer and replace him with...nobody. It ridiculous when you read it like that but that's exactly what happened. Benitez was probably too busy looking for a new holding midfielder to bother finding anyone who might win us a game.

Well, not to worry - I'm sure we'll address this striker issue soon. I mean - just look at how quickly we resolved the issue of having quality widemen

Ah, the original 'Leave Budgie Alone!' Brigade are finding their fucking voices again.

How funny

Do you not enjoy winning at all? Cheer up, I know it's depressing to see us celebrating beating Bolton as if it was some famous victory, but we need to win, more than anything else. You'll inevitably get your wish with Hodgson, for the right reasons, but the context doesn't need to be catastrophe, and we can't wish it to be.

We aren't playing that well, but we are better, and winning a game in the last minutes is a huge confidence boost we desperately need.

Don't be a bilious eeyore.

Isn't our 2 widemen Charlie Adams and N'Zogbia in January?

[/quote]
No 'S' its Charlie Adam.
I think if Adam played for us, a lot of fans would be tearing their hair out. His passing range is brilliant and his left foot is outrageous, but he gives it away an awful lot. It goes relatively unnoticed at a team like Blackpool but for a big club, he squanders it far too much.

I presume as I have dared not to slam him for his impertinence at pointing out the bleeding fucking obvious I am regarded as one of the "leave Budgie alone brigade" then Brendan.
