Ross Barkley

He twice attempted to break a player's leg in a derby game. He's even managed to exasperate Roy Hodgson with his tactical immaturity. He's been hyped way, way, way beyond actual quality of content, like Star Wars spin offs and Peter Kay sitcoms. And he's about as sound a physical specimen as James Corden. And almost as irritating. Get that nine foot pole out (Oncey) and keep him at bay.

Something personal went on between Beardsley and Kenny Dalglish. Beardsley was still a very effective player, but Dalglish began to leave him on the bench, to the puzzlement of the supporters. The transfer to Everton came shortly after. I think Kenny just wanted him out of the club and wasn't choosy who he went to,
It was Souness who transferred him ... just after buying Dean Saunders

Strange how so many of you like the idea of filling our team with athletic, injury prone, and thick in the head players.

[article]Ross Barkley snubbed a switch to Chelsea after Antonio Conte turned his phone off on deadline day and failed to speak to the Everton midfielder.

That is the remarkable claim from Joey Barton, who is co-hosting Monday's Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast.

Barkley had seemed all set to join the Premier League champions after they had a £35m bid accepted by Everton on Thursday and he reportedly travelled to London for talks.

But he opted against the move - leaving Chelsea stunned - and Barton has now revealed the reasoning behind the 23-year-old's decision.

He said: "I heard a really interesting thing about what happened with the Ross Barkley transfer. Conte turned his phone off and Barkley's representatives were trying to contact him.

"He wanted to say 'look, where am I going to play', and Conte turned his phone off. That is why Barley got cold feet and never signed.

"He thought, 'well, if the manager isn't answering the phone to me he clearly doesn’t want me', and that is why he went back to Everton."[/article]

If I recall, Dalglish typically dropped him for away games, where he liked to load the team with full backs playing out of position (e.g. vs Arsenal in December he played Abblett, Burrows, Nicol & Venison). Beardsley played consistently at Anfield,
