Why is this cunt getting a thread? Fuck him and his 249 goals. I hate to state the obvious, but every club has a top scorer. It's not like he's broken any world records.

He still has a bit to go to catch up with Rushie.

That is obvious, but it's still a good point.

Although I wouldn't ever say Dreamy shouldn't post what he wants, if he thinks it's a valid discussion. The responses generated should indicate if that enthusiasm is shared

I'm just saying that top scorers for other clubs rarely make the big news. But this prick is being plastered all over the media like he's achieved something no one else has ever achieved. And of course Pat being Pat falls for it hook, line and sinker.

Rooney never showed up for couple of international tournaments, his goals record isn't great that said still had a good club career.

It's your birthday Neal. Calm down!

OK, well the increased media profile is obvious, given he's the captain of England and also one of the biggest and most successful clubs in the world, and is also one of the most famous footballers in the world.

Plus that record has stood for a long time, so breaking it IS quite significant.

But as I said, the interest in Dreamy's post, and it's suitability for a Liverpool forum, is a question that only the contributors to the thread can answer.
I certainly wouldn't advocate anyone locking it, just because it's about Rooney. Or indeed Dreamy.

And I doubt anyone will be congratulating Rooney when he does break it, however impressive an achievement it is.

Fair enough Brendan. I see your point.

Although I still don't agree with how significant it is. It's significant if you're a United fan, for sure. And no, I never suggested locking the thread. As you say, let the contributors answer.

Well consider my last few posts as this contributor's answer 😉

I think the overall response has been skewing towards the negative, if we're being polite.

I don't really care, happy to discuss anything football-related, as long as there's some moderation/ reason behind it. As long as I'm interested in it, obv.

So did Gerrard, so did lampard, shearer etc etc etc

messi has hardly been the same player at international level , it doesnt mean any of the above are not or were not phenomenal at club level.

Shearer was top scorer in euro 96. As striker he will get more stick. My op stated he a good club career

Hes Englands all time goalscorer and man utds, yeah the amount of matches england play has multiplied by x and theyve achieved sub fuck all but never the less, its an achievement, he's hardly been surrounded by players playing to their optimum for the majority of the period.

Dreamie in another thread related to Man Utd shocker.

Must be warming up for the "Alex Ferguson & Mourinho - has any other club ever had 2 of the greatest managers like Man Utd" thread
Yes, or "Best Midfielder in History– Roy Keane or Paul Scholes?"
