Ronnie - I think he might know a thing or two - reckons Mascherano held us back and that he was severely exposed once Alonso left. He reckons he has no real skill on the ball, while acknowledging that he is a world class ball winner - but if you're winning the ball all the time to give it away more often than not it's like watching a dog chase it's tail - according to Ronnie. There were statistics published last year that proved Liverpool lost more games with him in the team that when he was out.

hey, 'HIS' words, not mine...

I don't care too much what happens with Mascherano. That he's struggling at Barca is karma. Payback is a mofo.

I don't think he gave the ball away very often.
All to often people who played the game well don't watch it with anywhere near the same class.

He didn't give it away often at all - he just couldn't use it very well.

Slagging off Mascherano's footballing ability makes us seem very bitter.

Oh no, definately not bitter about him leaving us not at all.

Barcelona signing Javier Mascherano is struggling to adjust to coach Pep Guardiola's system.

El Mundo Deportivo says there's already calls for Guardiola to go with Sergio Busquets ahead of the Liverpool midfielder.

Busquets passing and ease with which he releases the ball is in contrast to Mascherano's laboured approach so far.

Barca management have no doubts about the Argentine's ability, but accept it will take time for him to adjust to their style of play.

'Liverpool midfielder'

I think anyone with half a brain wondered what Barca were expecting with Masch. Great off the ball, shit on it.

Theres not a single player in the Barca squad who isn't a footballer.

Mascherano is a great athlete and ball winner but his ability as a footballer are definitely debatable, sure he can play but he's nowher near as technically abled as the twats in barca. You'd love him in your line up against Barca, I can't say that in my mind they've ever jumped out as a team that'd suit Mascherano.

I wouldn't be surprised if he moves on to another top european club in 11 months time if things don't get any better. Barca and their playing style is hardly stock.

He'll be saying his wife misses the UK and it's against his human rights to stop him joining up with his best mate Tevez at Citeh.

I know it was meant as ironic, but I doubt Tevez would ever play a part in a future move given he couldn't be arsed with a half hour drive to see his 'mate' when he was here.

As people have said, it's nice to see a bit of karma in effect.

Wow, Alan Shearer eat your heart out.

Mascherano's footballing ability isnt that bad..

It was starting to get better and better -- unlike Sissoko's which just got worse and worse...

At certain points last year Mascherano was the only one actually attempting to create something.. Sometimes it wasnt pretty or fluid but he didnt lack the ability wriggle out of a tackle and play a nice pass out to the winger. Mascherano would benefit from the approach teams used to have with Makalele - Unfortunately while he was with us his hatred for losing often meant he was the one who tried to step up.. Which did highlight some of his weaknesses.

Im still angry at the way he left - but in the long term its for the better of the team..

(Or so i thought - it appears that the new manager is just trying to same old shit but with less talented players)

Its already looking like another shite transfer on Barcelona's part after last years 80m annus horriblis.
Mascher started in their first home defeat to lowly Hercules, Then was benched for the next game coming on in the last minute and getting booked. Left out again last night came on with 25 minutes left and literally didnt kick the ball.
He's basically been signed to play about 6 away games to add steel to the midfield and win the ball back. Whats the point in a 20m ball winner in a team that has 70% possession.
what a waste of money.

Especially given they already had Busquets, an international, doing the same job.

Oddness. Oh well, he'll be reunited with Benitez sooner or later, assuming Benitez is still in charge of a big club

You suggesting he should keep up the Italian lessons then?

[/quote]And had Keita as back up. Nuts.
Its also not like that team is stuffed with lazy cunts who only attack, Xavi and Iniesta work their bollocks off without the ball. I cant see him succeeding because they just dont need him.
