Will the Arabs just not put a massive sponsorship deal together with one of there subsidiary companies to cover the short fall. There are bound to be loopholes for them to get through.

uefa have already said this kind of chicanery won't be tolerated. any significant jump in any club's turnover will likely be jumped on and investigated to death by uefa's accountants. i think these things are harder to get around than a lot of people realise - it'll be more a question of whether uefa allow a bit of slack than clubs pulling the wool over their eyes, imo.

FIFA UEFA ....pah, I have had enough with them. I would not trust them as far as I could throw them.
The last debacle on the World Cup bids was the icing on the cake..........it stinks and money talks

Chelsea made a move to sign Anderlecht striker Romelu Lukaku in the January transfer window, his club have claimed.

The 17-year-old Belgian is rated as one of the hottest properties in world football and has been linked with Liverpool, Manchester City and Real Madrid in recent weeks.

But Anderlecht general Herman Van Holsbeeck revealed the only bid his club received was from the Blues, who splashed out a combined £71million on Fernando Torres and David Luiz on deadline day.

“Chelsea wanted to buy this winter, we said no,†he told Belgian TV show Reyers. “He is not ready, and we still keep one to two seasons. His price? €30 million."

Ive been told by a Utd fan who gets very reliable info that they're going all out for this lad in the summer.

don't shit on my buzz. i'd murder for lukaku....even though we've now got carroll

Iid love us to sign this kid, I really do think he's going to be the next big thing. unfortunately, i think we'll miss out on him. i wonder if chelsea feel that he's the long term replacement/option to drogba?

Watched Lukaku and Anderlecht last night against Ajax and I must say I was left rather disappointed with him.

Was subbed early on in the second half to his own regret but he did very little untill that moment. He is big, he is strong and he does look like a footballer, but on the other hand he looks like he's nowhere near worth the mooted £20M prize-tag. Still wouldn't mind us beeing in for him but we probably shouldn't expect any immediate impact from him at least from judging on his performance last night.

He's got quicker feets and seems a bit more agile than good ol Emile, but he was not setting the world alight that's for sure.

I watched Lukaku against Finland was it about a week ago? Anyway he was the best player on the pitch that day(along with Hazard).

You can probably allow a 17yo kid to have a bad game every now and then, eh? Especially if the rest of the team aren't performing either as the scoreline against Ajax would suggest.

20 million for Hazard?

NO chance.
[/quote]

aye, afraid so. i'd have thought it'd be £25-30m, or possibly more if the likes of city and real madrid enter the bidding.

i think he'd be worth it, though, as long as we had the money. is he even 20 yet? massive potential. in 2 years: him one side, sterling the other, suarez and carrol through the middle. that could be a frighteningly good forward line, as long as there was a solid and powerful midfield base to support them.

Based on last night alone Hazard would be so much the better choice of the two at this moment.

The latter could turn into a very talented striker but we've already got that area covered whilst we're screaming for talented pacy wingers like Hazard or Sanchez or Young.

You should never judge a player based on one performance.

Gerrard has had plenty of stinkers and look at what Torres' first two Chelsea performances have yielded ?

Both are world class players at the end of the day though.

Avvy:

Belgian teenage starlet Eden Hazard could move to the Premier League in the summer from Lille according to reports in France.

The 19-year-old has attracted interest from a host of Premier League clubs ready to capture his signature.

Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea have shown an interest in the wonderkid, while Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed he’d would love to bring the player to the Emirates.

Lille had originally revealed the player would not be for sale but recent reports in France suggest that the Ligue 1 side have set their valuation of the player at €25 million and that he could move in the summer.

Although Lille boss Rudi Garcia refused to respond to such speculation and suggested they would review the situation in the summer.

"In the end of the season if someone is interested [in making a bid] we will study it and if not, nothing happens," Garcia told French journalists.

"Hazard is a great asset to this club."

Lille are keen to hold on to the Belgian international who has notched five goals and five assists, helping his club to the top of Ligue 1 this season.

Completely agree. And I'm not doing so either. I've watched him a couple of times before where he's impressed me but I'm just not sure he's what we need at this point if we are to spunk £20M on one player as we've just got Carroll for the exact same position.

We've already overpaid for Carroll who is young and will improve.

We have other more pressing positions that need attention and it would foolhardy to disregard the need for a winger that goes straight into the starting line-up.

At this point Lukaku would be nothing more than a luxury signing that we can't afford.
