Tom Ince never got a chance at Liverpool and he's started the season with a bang in The Championship (following on from a good season last season). Already the Blackpool fans are wondering how long they can hold on to him. No doubt he'll be sold in the January transfer window for £5m+ and we'll bemoan the fact our youngsters never get a PROPER chance.

If Suso is allowed to leave without ever having a chance to show what he can do it would be criminal.

True

I'm confident suso would get the chance though

I'd been reading in the past that Ince left because he (or his father) couldn't agree on a contract with us.

Ince's attitude stank when he was here and he did nothing in the reserves to merit a chance.

Exactly. Plus the club wanted him to sign a new contract, but he wanted guarantees about first team football. he's a wanker like his father.

I have to agree in respect of Tom Ince. We should have sold him when he still had a good bit of time on his contract, but he wasn't really meriting a go in the first team, or even in the squad.

I think it's easy to absolve the club of blame regarding Ince, because he still looks unlikely to be a top class player, but surely dealing with egos and silly demands is all part of the job of bringing through talented youngsters. From time to time there'll be ones with ideas above their station; that doesn't mean clever management couldn't bring them down to earth and make useful players out of them.

I dunno, maybe the club would take that approach if they felt the player was worth it. I hope they would.

I agree, but it is easier said than done. I remember someone interviewed Rafa and got to go round Melwood and the Academy with him, and he nodded at a boy and said something along the lines of 'this one is really talented, but his attitude is a problem'. I'd hope that in such cases that someone says to the kid that if he wants a chance he needs to sort his shit out. Unfortunately, even at a young age, some of these lads are receiving bad advice from people who blow smoke up their arses. In Ince's case it was his Da.

I already fell for it ages agao & Wizzy told me it was a blag. Hence the comment now.

Keep up.

I'm glad Ince got shipped out. No doubt it was for footballing reasons but I like to think of it as North Korean style inter-generational justice for his dad being such a massive weapon.
