BR on additions: "We need 1 or 2 to cover areas, and on top of that we need 1 or 2 in the attacking areas."

Rodgers: No bids near our valuation of Suarez. Bids only from Arsenal. We have no intention of selling Suarez this window, or any player.

BR is standing his ground and is backed to the hilt by the Owners which is great. A few quality additions and top 4 could be a reality.

We need a quality centre half and defensive midfielder before I'll feel we can challenge for top 4. All these attacking players won't fix our dodgy defence and midfield.

You're welcome. it's a good listen. Good questions for a change.

Cheers Macca.
It is a good show.
Not as good as it was under it's previous presenters but still worth a listen.
Talks about all sports as well and the presenters always seemed to be pretty clued in to the subject and the sport that they are discussing and the sportsperson they are interviewing.
Or at least that was the way it was until recently.

I don't bother watching anything interviews normally so can't remember if I've heard Rodgers before.

Yeah that's baffling. I also try to avoid post match interviews etc but I know what he sounds like.

BR: "Agger is very committed to #LFC, when I came he gave me his word that as long as I want him at Liverpool he'll be here."

@the_khl

Although centre-back Agger was not among the travelling party which landed in Norway shortly after 8pm local time, Rodgers responded to a question about the 28-year-old with a glowing appraisal.
The manager added: "He's obviously a world-class defender. Daniel is very committed to Liverpool; he's one of the players that have really impressed me.
"If we're talking about loyalty, he was one of the first players that I spoke to when I became the manager. At the time, there were a number of big clubs looking to sign Daniel.
"But he gave me his word that for as long as I wanted him to be at Liverpool, he would be at Liverpool. He has never swayed from that.
"He has an unswerving commitment to Liverpool which is so refreshing. His loyalty to the club is incredible.
"I would suspect when he signed his new contract last year, he was hoping that this would be the contract that's going to allow him to see out the best part of his career at Liverpool."

Guess agger has to be a strong candidate for the vice captains role .

We need a more integrated defence. I'm not sure it's quite as dodgy as it's being claimed.

Last season, a lot of goals were shipped because people dropped their level. We can certainly blame the central midfield for some of those goals in the first half of the season, when opponents got a free reign to run into the box, but a fair number of goals were also caused by guys not checking their blindspots, or heck - even what was ahead of them.

Goals at the far post when attackers ghosted in behind the likes of Johnson / Wisdom, goals in the middle when Skrtel and Agger fell asleep instead of tracking attackers running into the box, goals that went in because Reina couldn't dive low on his right anymore, goals from corners because our keeper / centrebacks didn't coordinate better on assignments.

I'm kinda' mixed about our defence actually - better quality is definitely useful, but I'm also wondering if we could actually still run with the current defence if we could just squeeze out an improvement in attitude and effort. I'm all for buying to upgrade, but if we didn't, I don't think it's the end of the world if - and that's a big IF - we could make sure the silly mistakes from last season are minimized.

Heh weird. This is the first time I've heard Rodgers speak I think.

Apart from a tiny bit when he was doing a tennis ball keepy-up thing for LFC.COM, I'd never really heard Suarez's voice until a couple of hours ago when I watched that ad he did.

THE FUCKING CUNT.

Good post. I also think there was no one overriding cause for all these defensive mistakes. Wisdom and Kelly made mistakes due to lack of experience, Johnson always has a tendency to "switch off," Pepe started the season overweight, Skrtel wasn't comfortable with possession-based game, Lucas wasn't there to clean up everyone's mess for half of the season etc etc. Unfortunately all these different factors coincided and created a critical mass of mistakes and uncertainty so much that the team just looked like it can concede anytime… Regardless of the personnel changes, we probably should see some improvement this season because there hopefully won't be as many negative factors aligned against us.
