Arsenal and Liverpool fight it out for £20m Brazilian midfielder Roberto Firmino

ARSENAL are ready to hi-jack Liverpool’s move for Hoffenheim’s £20million Brazilian midfield player Roberto Firmino because they fear Santi Carzola being lured back to Spain with Atletico Madrid.

Firmino is the kind of attacking player manager Arsene Wenger loves and he finished last season as fourth highest scorer in the German league with 16 goals and 14 assists.
Wenger has not also given up of signing Morgan Scheiderlin from Southampton.
He will use cash from the possible £13million sale of Costa Rica’s World Cup hero Joel Campbell to AC Milan to secure any future new deals.
The 22-year-old Firmino, suspended several years ago for turning up late for training, has developed into one of Europe’s top attacking players.
Liverpool have already made a £12million bid but that was rejected by the German side.
Chelsea are also showing interest, along with new Southampton manager Ronald Koeman. Hoffenheim know they can hold out for the best deal.

Can anyone offer up a good reason why we wouldn't be in for him? He appears to fit the profile of what the club is looking for to a T. Goals, assists, age, room for growth, positional versatility, ability to play as a centre forward, rumoured fee... I can't think of anyone who sounds like a better fit for us than Firmino.

He plays in the same position as Coutinho/Lallana/Sterling?

We don't really need anyone at AM.

He played centre forward, centre midfield and on the left as well though... and played well in those positions by the looks of things. The ability to play centre forward is what makes him so appealing in my mind... there seemingly aren't too many options to choose from if we're looking for someone who can play there as well as in other attacking positions.

It's true we do have a number of AM however non scored 16 goals and laid on 14 assists....

That article however reads like pure billy bullshit.

He played CF 3 times and RW once last year. The rest of the time he played AM.

The season before he was on the wing a lot more and scored a lot less.

I'm not sure how reliable that is - if you look at any of his Youtube compilations, he's almost always playing as a second striker - quite like Suarez.

What? How is that even relevant?

Who the fuck writes this shit? And who the fuck edits it?

I want answers.

Reading between the lines, I think it is saying he turned up late for training a while back and got punished for it.

I'm sold - especially at the prices being bandied about.

I think he would be perfect as either a second forward to Sturridge in Diamond or attacking mid in a 4-3-3. I know we have Coutinho there as well, but I continue to think that Coutinho does better either playing from deeper or from the left. He just loses the ball too often when playing in the hole.

Only problem with this buy is we still do not have a good solution for when Sturridge is injured. I do not see Firmino leading the line, although as others have said, he does look a lot like Luis and he led the line just fine when needed. Still a shame about Remy. Remy and Firmino would have been great business.
