I think you're being a bit dramatic Rebel.
We're one of the current and past most successful teams in Europe. Players want to come here, maybe not the Kaka's of the World but who gives a fuck. The players that want to play for us, the Johnsons and the Torres', are the best breed.
We'll make money from different avenues, TV, Cup competition, marketing, ticket sales. You make it sound like the £20m from the Champions League is our only source of income.
Their may be a tightening of the purse strings while we pay back money on the loans, but I think you're being a bit sensationalist about it all, and I doubt Rafa would have laid such solid foundations this Summer by overhauling the club from the Academy to who controls the transfers, if he wasn't confident he'd be getting at least an adequate backing from the clubs owners.

I'm being realistic. we lost £40m last year, they have to pay back £60m to the banks. where do you think that money is coming from? it comes out the club. the TV money, the CL money, everything over the next 2 years will be going to the banks with little left for transfers. that is the reality of the situation, if you dont choose to believe it then fine but unless they sell assets that is what will happen.
he might have been confident of the backing at the time but things change like the financing and the terms of it, the yanks might have told Rafa a pack of lies to get him to sign the contract or maybe they weren't expecting the banks demanding £60m back. things change.

That's fair enough comment, as I said 'there might be a tightening of the purse strings'.
Your initial posts suggested we'd be spending next to fuck all with money coming only from sales, which I'd wager is bullshit. Rafa's not stupid, if G&H don't dig deep then he'll make it common knowledge and put the pressure on via the press, as he always does.
He's brought in his own people this Summer and gotten rid of Parry to give him self even greater power and influence over the club, and to pile further pressure on the owners, with the backing of his newly appointed staff and people like Dalglish.
One of our greatest weapons against being dragged down is our steep history and how well ran we are internally, particularly now that Rafa is controlling transfers and internal appointments.
Don't underestimate the amount of influence Rafa now has and how well he can force the American's into a corner.
Perhaps this Summer and in January we may have to compromise ourselves a touch and spread the squad thinly, but this isn't really an issue that's going to be allowed to be dragged on for years to come. There's too much work going on behind the scenes, while we're at such a good stage of our development, for the right people to allow that to happen.
