Good to hear:

Riera: Torres and Reina wouldn’t leave if Rafa did

Liverpool winger Albert Riera says he and his fellow Spanish team mates at the club, Fernando Torres and Pepe Reina, are determined to be successful at Anfield and will remain here for a long time no matter what happens.

With Rafa Benitez’s future having been questioned this season, many have speculated that should the Spaniard leave the club he would be followed by the likes of Torres and Reina.

But Riera explained “It is clear how happy Pepe and Fernando are at the club and I have no doubt they will both be here for a very long time no matter what happens.â€

“They have both said to me that they want to make history with Liverpool and I share that ambition. I understand I haven’t enjoyed quite as big an impact on the club as them (Torres and Reina) so far but I intend to.

“For me, if the club offered a five, six or seven year contract right now, I’d sign it with my eyes closed. Where else is there to go? Being anywhere else would be a step down. I have everything I need in Liverpool.â€

He added “It isn’t in the character of any of us to turn our backs and run somewhere else when times are tough. All of us would like to look back on our Liverpool career and say it was asuccess.â€

ok ... it's good to hear this but it's a no-brainer no? Both Reina and Torres are extremely loyal to the club, so I'd be very surprised if it was something along the lines of, "Rafa goes, we follow"

Sounds like Fernando will be pissed of when the Yanks accept the £100m offer for him from city.

Fernando will never leave us for another Premiership team.

FACT.

Yah, I think that's about right.

Me too. As has been said, if his contract's not up he doesn't have to go anywhere anyhow but, if things did get to the stage where we had to sell him, my bet is he'd look for a move home to Spain.

Either that or a return to Atletico if (a) they had started to win things or (b) Nando himself was not quite at his best any more.

He has said he wants to play in Italy at some point.

Obviously after he helped us win the League/Champions' League/Masters Of The Universe titles.

I didn't realise he'd said that. Spanish players don't generally do well in Serie A but Nando's the type of guy who'd take that as a challenge.

When I first saw the quote I posted it hear all upset and shit but everyone had seen it and said it was nothing, hence, the "Masters Of The Universe" bit.

I actually get surprised when I see this threads speculating that this player or that player will leave if Rafa does; I agree that Rafa's presence would be important, especially if they came in under his tenure.

But I still believe that we are the best club in the world, even when we're shit and that has to count for something.

Call me gullible, but I believe that not all players look at us the way some fans do; as impoverished has-beens that should content themselves with the scraps of the UEFA cup and 'regular CL qualification'.
