Rhian Brewster and Racism

Instead of flapping his gums to the fake news and people patronising him for his courage, next time wear a fucking wire. Have it incorporated into the collar by the manufacturer. Then give the mp3 to the club and extort millions of dollars out of the racist. That's how you stop it.

Crying to the FA and UEFA and begging them to help you, to save you, just makes you a naïve dickhead.

Disagree. It doesn't look like he need their help or be saved. It look like he does this for the greater cause. Put some focus on it.

I was just going to start a thread on this so well done. Abused or witnessed abuse 7 times in 2017, fucking horrific for anyone ... but a 17 yr old playing football FFS ?!

I'm white but know what racism and racist abuse is .. I lived in Nigeria for 5 years and had my 'fair share'. I think it's easier to laugh it off if you're white (at least I could) as it's less widespread and for some reason less prevalent, but nevertheless it shocks you at first. It's got to be awful for Rhian though.

What bollocks.

I got a dude whose worked for me and more importantly been a friend for fifteen years, and he came round recently and I shouted my wife Nicola, in a weird accent and he thought I'd called him the N word. Awkward, but he says he still gets it.

Fuck it off

It's not. The FA and UEFA want to receive money, they have no incentive to fight against racism, it's only money. That money comes from the public image of football, where indiscriminately upholding every complaint of racism will severely damage the image, so they manage the tap the way you manage the shower tap, to keep it just warm enough to make their customers feel positive and happy to part with their money.

Basically I'd called her Nicka because that's what her young niece does. I was just being stupid, but he thought after all these years blah blah blah. It's not right

Technically, your intention was irrelevant and you should have apologised for the offence caused.

Brewster's great. Players like him need to react really quickly and decisively with the relevant authorities whenever this crap happens. That's the only way to stop it.

I like this idea. Actually I love this idea. But I have feeling that after the revelations he's the one who will be suspended by FIFA for wearing "un-something something stuff" on the pitch.

The stated purpose of it would of course be to monitor your own players' communication at set-pieces and things like that, to improve your defensive organisation. It'd be no different to using cameras to monitor running statistics. If every now and then you happen upon an unfortunate breach of FA Rule E3, well that'd just be an 'unintended' consequence.

The cunts used TV camera footage to carry out their ridiculous lip-reading and body-language analysis of Luis Suarez. They can go fuck themselves if they have any problem at all with using wire taps for the same ancillary purpose.

Everyone has to be aware you're wearing a wire though, or its illegal

Not if it's for personal use. Where it becomes illegal is when you release the recording to the public, but there's going to be around 50 people within the club with access to the recording, so good luck proving who was responsible for the leak.

Even if they prove it, the judge will take account of the fact it was a public event, being recorded and played on TV, so the racist would have at least considered that his words or lip movements could be broadcasted, so he cannot have suffered any real breach of privacy just because he was fucked over by a wire instead.

Yup. You have to force UEFA into dealing with it again and again. Repeated laughable punishments should lead to media pressure to force change in UEFA.

And it's notable that even kids can see through UEFA's empty gestures

But they don't care about racism. They care about high profile media coverage which the Suarez case give them...
