I’m truly torn between wanting Everton to finish in the bottom 3 or to narrowly avoid relegation on the last day only to have points deducted a day later for breaching FFP.

No, it wouldn't be fair on anybody if they get an asterisk beside their relegation. Everton deserve to be relegated on merit. That said, the way you are describing would ramp up the bitterness.

Actually what would be even better is if they're at the top of the championship after say 8 games on say 15 points......then the investigation is concluded and it's deemed worthy of handing them a 15 point deduction and then it'll be like that massive snake drop in snakes and ladders, vrroooooooooom down the bottom of the league you go & start all over.

Yeah, I think whoever was in charge of recruitment over the years deserves more of the blame - for example, Hasenhuttl's most expensive signings were Armstrong and Adams from the Championship. I doubt it's him who wanted them. Similarly, despite how Bielsa's teams shipped goals, I think if he was given the money his successors got to spend, they would have at least be in a better situation.

It's so easy to forget some of the players that were there, have absolute no recollection of Gaston Ramirez, Eljero Elia or Filip Djuricic ever playing for them.....and the former 2 we were linked with pretty heavily back in the day.
