Woke up to the second half at 3am. Glad to miss the first half with all the misses and their intensive attack (as told by you lads here). Lovely to see us controlling the game and score two second half, one from an impossible angle. Karmonnnnn Reds. Just keep going.

Firmino had very little rest during the summer, he came back and started like a house on fire, I think it's just catching up to him now. He needs a rest.

He didn't do anything much to help us win the European Cup. Injured for the semi and was dogshit in the final
If you are talking about Firmino, he did score that crucial winner last season in the group stages against PSG. Without which we may have struggled to qualify for the knock out stages.

As for being dogshit in the final, you can argue the entire team and even the opposition were utter dog shit for that game.

VVD is such a colossus and calming presence.

I worry about tough games we have ahead, but then remember we do have the best CB in the world, and I always feel better knowing that unless he has a stinker, or his partner does, we'll be OK.

Can we also show some love to Ali tonight please. He made quite a few crucial saves. And like Virgil, I never get the feeling he's gonna drop a clanger.

As busy as Mane was, today was a game for our defenders, goalie and midfielders. They stepped up, gave us the platform to miss 100 chances and still win comfortably.

On a side note, Gomez needs to wake the fuck up. His pace against Vardy (next big PL game) will help us, but his concentration in being in the right positions will kill us against such a striker.

He didn't actually shoot it from that angle but it still was impressive as fuck.

Good game, great result. Frim has been a bit poo lately. It's weird the way Klopp doesn't mind resting Mo or Mane but won't drop Frim. You'd think Shaq, Ox or Keita could have a go in that position.

Klopp seems to know what he's doing though? What's that now? Unbeaten in about ten years?

So the tories are responsible for our unbeaten run?

Of the other 3 groups that played tonight the 3 teams finishing 2nd ie we could get drawn against in the Knockout stage are Valencia, Lyon and Dortmund.

I just watched Valencia, definitely nothing to overly concern us, they were quite poor but got the away win in Ajax that they needed.

Valencia topped their group mate
Nice not to have Ajax as a second placed potential last 16 opposition

He dropped Frim for the derby

People seem to forget that gem of an assist for Wijnaldum in the Everton game. Firmino hasn't been at the standard we expect of him but I don't think he's been terrible all in all this past month.

I think at his best he’s miles better than his recent showings. That superb assist aside. He’s giving the ball away and being sloppy and missing chances. He usually never losing the ball.

Klopp has recently been shaking things up in attack; the front 3 kept drastically changing in the last 3 games:

Everton (4-3-3):
Mane--Origi--Shaq

Bournemouth (4-3-3):
Ox-----Firmino----Salah

Salzburg (4-3-1-2):
----Mane-Salah-----
-------Firmino--------

This has coincided with us starting to create a lot more quality goal-scoring chances, which is probably not exactly a coincidence – the usual front 3 were probably starting to get predictable in their movement and it was time to freshen things up. Now even when Mane, Salah and Firmino start up front together, the roles are slightly different, as they were in yesterday's game – Mane and Salah up front and Firmino in midfield – which means that Bobby's role is more easily replaceable than when he is leading the line.

In fact all the roles have become more flexible and rotation-friendly. Ox, Keita, Mane or even Lallana and Gini can all play at #10, Shaqiri is an option to add another playmaker from the right wing, Ox against Bournemouth did a decent job of replicating Mane's runs from the left, and then when all else fails the legend himself Divock Origi can step in and do his thing. Many fans fretted since summer over the "lack of cover for the front 3," but in recent games Klopp has been demonstrating that we have enough quality and versatility in attack to create a number of viable combinations.

If we get to play a team like this every week, we be scoring freely in no time. If it wasn't for their keeper being superman in the first half, it would have been long gone and also misfiring Salah. Salah seemed to prefer to score from difficult positions, so let's put him in those situations more. And Keita looked pretty decent in creating chances and exploiting space, but still suffer from adjusting with the pace of the game. I am not a German league fan, but are they really that slow? Keita looked to be extremely hard to catch and dispossessed at Leipzig, but with us, he is constantly getting caught in possession.

In second half I think we came out with more purpose to kill the game off and then take a breather. After the second goal went in, we took our foot off the gas. The cross field pass from Alexander-Arnold has been bearing fruit and long may that continue. It stretches the opposing team and make us far more unpredictable, especially when you have a more creative player in the middle of the park like Keita or Oxlade-Chamberlain. That cut back from Mane was perfect, from pace to height of the ball for Keita to attack. Then you have Salah acute angle goal. He had 3 glaring chances and hit the keeper or missed, but this one coming from near impossible angle and what more, on his weaker foot and he scored.

Hands up that I am not a big fan of Wijnaldum, I don't mind him and I think his job is to run up and down the pitch to create disruption in the middle of the park. Just have a look at first half when Robertson was caught higher up the pitch and Wijnaldum had to track back. He put his head down and struggled to sprint back == no pace. Got the ball on the break, the ball tangled between his legs. This is a very frequent thing for him, I've said this in other sites, he seemed to not be ready to receive the ball on the run. But when he wears that orange kit for his country, he looked like a different player. Puzzles the shit out of me. But having said all that he contributes late on in the season as usual. Maybe he is conserving his energy for second half of the season, or a slow starter that needed at least 20 games before he is fully warmed up.

Over all, we are through and that's all that matters. Great match to watch, and by god can our club please stop making me drink whenever I watch them? I would like to stay sober and not be an alcoholic. Every start of the season as soon as I thought I can be without beers or whisky, some how they keep pulling me back in with nail biting nerve wrecking matches!
