Realistic alternatives to Benteke

Bas Dost, despite being achingly close to an anagram of the best film about a U Boat, is not good enough for us. He is about 6 foot 5 and not that quick.

He'd probably score more than what we have though.

15mill for Charlie Adam, he'd probably score more than Bacca here for less.
I don't want us to pay 32.5mill, but I think we could be wrong about Benteke.

You want prem proven and less then £15m which will leave you enough money for other positions then you want to be talking about Charlie Austin

Yep. Agree. Given the options apparently available, I think Austin is the best and a reasonable choice. I think he is likely to score and create goals. If he does not, his previous history and a long-term contract will maintain his value. Easy to sell on for £15m in a year or two.

If the right target was available for £30-40, I would be all for it. But, that target does not seem to exist.

Surely Lacazette can't be more than £40m?

How's Draxler doing of late?

Realistically we are not signing a striker this season.

Sturridge
Origi
Ings
Ballertelli
Borini
Lambert.

We will likely play one striker for about 70% of the games this season.

No body is coming in untill at least three of them fucks off. As a club i dont think we are that stupid. Newcastle were like that after Shearer left...look whereit has got them?

I agree with kingjulian here.

Partly cos it's logical, & partly cos I think it fits with what FSG want.

They see sturridge as a top class striker, so don't see the need for a replacement, I don't believe the injury record effects their thinking.

I do believe they look at salary expenditure per position, in which they will see, as far as they are concerned, adequate expenditure.

As a fan, with a brain & the ability to predict a less than stellar return on games per salary quota on our only top striker I can see the issue. However I believe that view does not extend to our owners, who see things in a much more black & white, simplistic, out look than my own.

With that in mind, we need to fuck off Ballotelli, Borini, & lambert quick smart, in order to get in a striker who might actually contribute something when he plays.

Well James Pearce from the Echo seems to think they are all out and we are still after a top striker.

Liverpool will look to bolster their transfer kitty by off-loading strikers Mario Balotelli, Fabio Borini and Rickie Lambert over the coming weeks. None of the trio have a future at Anfield.

The ad at the end of the voronin clip leads up to a few aquilani tributes. Some of the plays from the vids reminded me, what a sorry episode of bad timing the whole thing was. If he was allowed to stay on one or two more season at Roma and brought in, he could have lit up the premiership playing alongside Sturridge and Suarez. Instead he had to play with Jovanovic, Babel and Degen and the man had no stomach for it.....

He is doing reasonably well in Italy presumably now? But his career could have been so much more...

Draxler had a serious injury and besides didn't he play on the wings. Lacazette is weird one, he is reportedly wanted by clubs with big pockets, you have to ask why none have made a bid of £30m plus? Arsenal, Man Utd, Chelsea, Man City, PSG, Real Madrid and Byern Munich have neither come forward to make an official offer that Lyon would seriously consider.

It's patently obvious we're in for another striker. Anyone who's paid any attention to the news knows that.
