Agreed... Maybe a bit harsh on Agger, he didn't do alot wrong but was fairly quiet. I thought Yossi was poor, the assist aside. Masher, Reina and Gerrard were the pick of the bunch, Lucas did ok and played a great pass in the build up to the second goal, and I think he played the exchange pass with Gerrard in the build up to the first (?). Maxi had his best game yet, still not pulling up trees though.

In the first half I thought agger got destroyed by that striker over and over again.

Gerrard should stay in the position he played in today.

At times this was a really nervy affair, and we showed some all-too familiar jitters in defence. Blackburn are truly a side moulded into an image of their manager: massive, hateful shitcunts. We deserved the victory, even if we had Reina to thank on a couple of occasions.

Reina (7). Agree that there were a few nervy moments and hare-brained decisions, but he made several top-class saves and I doubt we'd have won without him.

Masher (8.). A beast of a performance from the player who has been Top Dog for the last three months. MOTM.
Carra (5). Uncharacteristically nervy at times, and had a few dodgy moments, overall, a bit ordinary
Agger (5). In a bit of a slump, he's been very average over the last few weeks.
Aurelio (n/a) Biscuit-man injured again

Maxi (6). Slow as evolution, but at least plays like he *has* evolved, unlike that other fucking chimp in midfield.
Gerrard (7). Another game. Another goal. Captain Fantastic is back. Some great passing from deeper in midfield, which is something we don't have unless he plays there.
Lucas (n/a) Just a massive, useless fucking waste of space. What the fuck is he doing playing for Liverpool?
Kuyt (5). Again, some things worked, others didn't. Never gave up, and one great overhead attempt, but not many others.

Casper (5). Not enough to justify playing in such an important position on the pitch, but we all know he isn't really good enough to play for us regularly, however the squad is so weak that he probably should.

Torres (7). It's a great shame that our only top-class striker is injured so often, but great to see him back in the side after teh abject fucking misery of watching Eggnog in recent weeks.

I only watched the 1st 15 minutes and it seemed to me Yossi was on the left Brendan. Can you confirm? If he was, then it's idiocy considering a retired grandmother could contribute just about as much as Yossi contributes on the left. Yeah I said it.

He seemed to be a bit more more central, but he does drift in naturally anyway, regardless of which flank he is on. He wasn't very good really, but he was hardly alone there

Rafa should let Babel play the last 10 games. Just tell him, 'show me you're worth it and you stay.' I know he'll probably fuck it up but a semi-motivated Babel is the best option we have on the left as it seems Riera has no future at Anfield.

He was poor/quiet, but he set up Gerrard's goal. He also gave the ball away ridiculously in the build up to their penalty.

He should have played today. I know Rafa, by the team he put out, seemed intent on playing the possession game (even though we gave it away endlessly), but Babel needed and deserved that small show of faith after midweek.

I think everyone, including Neil, knows he has no future. But at least let the guy prove us otherwise. He's a game changer every once in a while - give him a chance to prove it ... Oh well, what do I know anyways - I thought Le Tallec would come good.

Yossi was mainly on the left and as has been said is the worst place to play him.
If he isn't going to be played in the hole play him on the right.

I though Maxi did better than most are giving credit for

regards

I thought Yossi was slightly more effective than he usually is on the left. If he'd take on the curling shot to the far corner he'd be very good

I know this is an old sticking point, but looking at some of the ratings on here, I'd fucking LOVE to know how many posters were actually at the match.... or are we purely into MOTD warriors on this thread?

Reina 8 - mostly excellent, seems particularly adept at getting himself out of trouble
Masher 6 - very difficult to score as playing out of position - for a midfielder playing at RB for one fo the first times in his career probably deserves a 9 (and some cracking tackles) - but positionally he was akin to "mad womans piss" (c) Brendan
Agger 6 - difficult game for him, Klasnic is a big lump, and seemed a little unsettled by the direct nature of the game
Carra 6 - hoofs (and a silly handball) apart, a good game for Carra - looks far happier with Agger alongside him
Aurelio 5 - quite poor, thoguh no major mistakes - delivery off and not providing a huge amount of support for Yossi
Lucas 5 - he didnt do too much wrong (being bundled off the ball in possession, and silly fouls aside) - and made 1 terrific creative pass - however, is this what our expectations have been battered down to as "a decent performance"?!
Gerrard 7 - really was the one clear shining light of outfield quality in a fairly drab affair - AND sort of looked like a proper captain for once as well
Benayoun 6 - looked good in patches, and anonymous in others. Not sure LM is his position (constantly cutting back inside whenever he actually received the ball)
Maxi 6 - his best game for us (although thats maybe not too hard ) - very neat and tidy in possession, but no real "thrust"
Kuyt 7 - typical Kuyt - worked his flipping socks off all day (and did all of Nandos running for him) - and then on the two occassions where he could ahve layed on cut and dried goal scoring chances......lost his head
Torres 6 - not yet really match fit, and super frustrating (probably for him as well) - couple of magic touches, and a well taken goal, but very little else to shout about (Samba played him pretty well)

Insua 4 - tellingly, as soon as he came on Blackburn switched to smashing cross field balls onto him at every available opportunity - and Diouf (!!!) troubled him for pace on a couple of occasions - then rescued himself with a spot-on piece of defensive covering

Second game in a row I've missed so similar to last time I only feel justified in rating Lucas.........................

Lucas - 3

I thought Masher did very well at RB with all things considered. He has played there a few times now. This could well be his third. He started RB against Sunderland last season too. Not ideal but in times of a defensive crisis he is great cover.

Kind of agree with those ratings.

Masher probably one point to low alongside Lccas and Kuyt one point to high.
