Poulsen had a decent game by his standards, but he was still awful. He looks so sluggish and by the time he decides to try and close a player down, he's gone. The game passes him by and he was incredibly frustrating last night.

I don't particularly rate Lucas - who is capable of having games like that as well - but I'd rather have him in the side than Poulsen.

Lucas wins more tackles, breaks up more play, and completes more passes than any other player in our squad. Fulham had fucking plenty of it last night, and somebody capable of taking it back off them, initiating moves for us and freeing Gerrard of the dirty work would absolutely certainly have helped.

To suggest other wise is wrong I'm afraid.

We were defensive, dontyaknow. We shouldn't be playing a DM at home, Gerrard and Meireles should suffice against anyone who isn't top 6.

I hope teams we visit have the same idea.

Lucas was not the type of player we missed last night in my opinion.

Much more so a skillful winger with pace as neither Kuyt nor Maxi has got the ability to leave their marker hence either GlenJo or Kelly are our only real threats out wide.

Kelly probably had his worst game in the Liverpool-shirt so far but he's still young and is already beeing asked to do a lot of work - both attacking and defending. Kuyt was downright abysmal once again and Maxi was mostly invisible.

For me it was rather obvious that a player like Young, Hazard, Sanchez or even to some extent N'Zogbia would've given us far more options going forward. Lucas wouldn't have at all, and as already been said Poulsen had another decent game. I recall only one or two miss-placed passes from his foot so he's hardly any worse than Lucas in that category. Actually I reckon him to be a bit more intelligent on the ball than our blond Brazilian anyways.

Reina - 8
Kelly - 6
Agger - 8
Skrtel - 4
Johnson - 8
Meireles - 8
Poulsen - 5
Gerrard - 6
Kuyt - 4
Maxi - 6
Torres - 6

A bit harsh on Poulsen that mate (and to some extent even Skrtel)? Otherwise mostly agree.

Actually I thought Oncy's scores was pretty much spot on.

Poulsen wasn't as bad as I've seen him KHL hence my generous score for him but he just labours around the place contributing very little. Lucas is a better player than him as bad as that sounds. Skrtel was a fucking liability last night. Gave stupid fouls away, tried to head fresh air a few times and the sum total of his defensive work consisted of twatting the ball into the stands. Agger was miles better and had a good game.

I think the point being made about Lucas is that he is our player. And we did miss him last night IMO. Of course Young, Hazard, Suarez would make us better but we dont have them. Yet anyway

Skrtel is a liability without Carragher. I actually think his brain must've fallen out during a coughing fit or something. He just doesn't seem to know what he's doing.

Fair enough.

I don't think it would've made much of a difference had he played over Poulsen last night, that's all. It wasn't in central we struggled the most even though Gerrard had a very quiet game by his own standards.

To me it seems like he's got no confidence left at all. The slightest pressure and he panics. He could do with a break but he's not the only one. Kuyt for instance looks like he's running low on fuel as well. Makes the wrongs calls more often than the right ones and seems, well, knackered.

That's what Carragher gives him - confidence. He has a constant stream of instructions in his ear such that the decision-making is done for him. He has had some excellent games alongside Carragher. I can't remember any when Carragher hasn't been there.

I said it a while back but Skrtel and the Greek together is a truly horrific combination. After the horror show at Blackburn I thought we'd never see it again but then Agger's injury against Everton saw them paired together in the second half - and we all know what happened next. We really need Carragher back, because relying on Agger to stay fit is like relying on Paddy to not be a useless cunt.

Hehe.. Agger actually limped a bit towards the end last night but I hope it was only down the clash where someone stepped on his foot. I do agree however, he really needs to show everyone, especially himself, that he stay fit for prolonged period in time.

In my opinion - as well known on here - Skrtel has always had problems in terms of game intelligence (his positioning and timing especially) and albeit enjoying some solid games here and there he's never impressed me on a more permanent basis. When he's bad he's very very bad and unlike say Carra or Agger for that matter, he can look extremely out of his depths at times.

Imagine if we could offer Fulham both Konchesky and Skrtel in exchange for Hangeland?

He played well alongside Hyypia too. In fairness I think he was exposed alot last night because Kelly had a poor game defensively and kept leaving him wide open, and he did make some crucial clearances. Andy Johnson gave him and Kelly a torrid time throughout though, running at them with pace and getting in behind.

World Cup effect for our Dirk.
Hes not even working as much as before and his first touch is still abysmal.

From the regular starters is probably our worst player this season alongside Maxi and Skrtel.

And yet many people still give him a 6 week in, week out, whilst giving Lucas a 3 or something.

Poulson only played last night because Lucas had a slight injury and Spearing has fractured his foot.
