A win and a clean sheet, '7' is a bare minimum if a player didn't really fuck up.

Reina 7 - Barely had anything to do.

Carra 8 - What a comeback. Great performance.
Agger 7 - Did well. Couldn't get forward as much as in the Stoke game.
Skrtel 7 - No mistakes from him today, good performance.

Johnson 7 - Not really that effective in attack, but good defensively.
Kelly 7 - Didn't put a foot wrong.

Lucas 8 - He's proving many of us wrong. Worked hard, and held the ball well.
Meireles 8 - MOM - He won us the game, do need to say more?
Gerrard 7 - Too many misplaced passes for my liking. Got the assist, ran his socks off.
Maxi 4 - Bottler. Did fuck all. Passenger the entire game.

Kuyt 7 - Ran their defence ragged.

King Kenny: 10 - Been out of the game for too long.
 
While my ratings are low, I'd give the team a 8 rating overall ... This is a unit now - everyone fights for each other ... I love it.

Reina - 7 - solid

Carra - 8 - Great performance ... Fought Drogba and great tackle on Torres.
Skrtl - 6.5
Agger - 6.5 - He made a few bad passes

Kelly - 6.5 - a solid game, nothing spectacular but nothing happens against us on the right anymore
Johnson - 6.5 - good game, but a bit predictable at times.

Lucas - 6.5 - I thought he was pretty poor to be honest at times, but he never gives up
Meirless - 7.5 - He's really coming into his own. 4 goals in 5 games.
Gerrard - 6.5 - a few errand passes but great cross for the goal
Maxi - 4.5 - He worked hard and really should have scored.

Kuyt - 7 - good effort throughout.

Kenny - 9 - spot on

Lucas gave the ball away twice in the first half, two big errors despite showing good endeavour, he was excellent in the second half though, won a few good challenges, carried the ball well and set up attacks.

re: Lucas, maybe I'm being harsh but his mistake almost set up Torres's 'dream debut' ... He was fantastic in the air though ... Ok, I'll give him a 7! 🙂
 
Lucas gave the ball to Essien who then started an attack that you'd have expected Torres to finish. He was better in the second half by virtue of the fact he didn't fuck up any easy stuff. That's still not a high enough benchmark.

I thought both sides looked very nervous, but Chelsea moreso. I think we could have beaten them by more.

Mad really. Excellent performance. Great tactics from the King.

agree, lucas has improved, but at time he looks far too 'light' and a push over, everytime he gets the ball I am a little worried, but credit to him he is improving, however, he needs more to his game to be a regular member of the first XI
 
Reina 6 - Few dodgy and iffy moments while kicking the ball out. On another day, it could have cost us. The pitch was a bit slippery so the miskicks can be forgiven, but there were quite a few horribly poor decision making. Giving the ball to Skrtel, when a Chelsea player was near him and another came charging at him was a really really scary moment.

Carra 9(MOM) - Welcome back. That is a performance. Their three world class strikers didn't get a sniff.
Agger 8 - Read the game very very well in defense. A very good game defensively.
Skrtel 7.5 - Very Solid and Strong.

Kelly 7 - Steady game. Worked hard. Ran up and down the pitch all day providing width. Vital part for the formation to be a success.
Johnson 7.5 - Same as Kelly, but gets a bit more credit for maintaining possession in tight spaces much better.

Lucas 8 - A very good performance. He has improved by miles, and is now holding on to the position on merit.
Meireles 8 - Goaltastic performance. His passing is becoming more and more assured under Kenny.
Gerrard 6 - Worked hard, but it was not his day. His attacking runs didn't click. He was on a different wavelength to other players. A few poor touches and misplaced passes. A very untypical Gerrard game, but contributed more than his share on the defensive side.
Maxi 0 - We won in spite of him. He contributed nothing to us and quite a lot to Chelsea. He did run around and put pressure on Chelsea players once in a while, so for that reason he doesn't get a negative rating.

Kuyt 7 - Wow.... hard work Dirk is back. Has continued his good form from the mid-week game.

King Kenny: 10 - He has won away from home against Chelsea with the same side Hodgson had minus Torres. What a difference a manager makes. His press conference after the game was so lovely, composed and intelligent.
 
My problem with Lucas is that he has zero scoring threat.
Im not expecting him to win us games but at least get some assists.
Alonso played deep as well but that didnt keep him from scoring.

He's the holding player so he doesn't have to have goal threat. No one gave a shit about Masher's 'brilliant' goal return.

Stevie was my MOM. He was everywhere and an epitome of the fighting spirit we had today. Also got the assist on the goal so 6 is very very harsh in my opinion.

Well I was going to write my own but this is spot on except for Gerrard (9 - MoM) who was superb, he completely ran the midfield and (as against Stoke) was everywhere he needed to be when he needed to be there. Brilliant.

Carra was definitely MotM: what an awesome return, under massive pressure, after months out injured. Can't praise him highly enough. And surely no coincidence that Skrtel looked much calmer with him there.
