#RaheemToo

Blame the ball bags that buy those rags. If they didn’t it would starve the papers of revenue.

He is a cunt the way he left us, but a model pro who is highly successful. If you actually look at the way his life is reported by the right wing press you will see he is quite within his rights to feel aggrieved. It's fucking disgusting.

He has been excessively negatively reported upon it is true, whether it is due to racism in the press is a broader question IMO, but then again to most Liverpool fans he lacks charm doesn't he.

I don't know if it is a sliver of racism shining through but I'm not a black man and wouldn't know...

Ian Wright is worth listening to and I will take his word for it, either way maybe the press could ease off the fella.

I'm a bit tired of racism being brought into so many debates.

It's perfectly reasonable to despise Raheem Sterling entirely on his own terms, for all the terrible stupid things he's said and done, the stupid, horrible fucking cunt

Having read the tabloids in this thread... yeah... I dunno if it's racist but it is a pretty full tabloid attack on the lad and I don't think he deserves it all.

If I was on 200K a week I would still buy Gregs pasties..

I'd fly first class mind you... Ryan air would never see me again.

Tabloids eh... fucking shite...

Have all black England internationals in the last decade or so gone through this kind of thing? Or is it mostly Raheem? Genuinely don’t know as I don’t live there.

Hope you’re joking.

Fucking ludicrous thread

Yeah I wanted to point that thread out but couldn't be arsed in the end and it includes a lot of sun clippings as well.
I hated the way Sterling left the club and don't really care about him either way but the shit's he's been getting from the press is fucking disgusting.

No, he is a good pundit IMO, and moreover, a famous black ex-football player who has far more experience and awareness of racism towards black people than I a middle-aged white fella can offer.

I take it you don't like the chap?

I agree that Ian Wright is a decent pundit most of the time but IMO he's got this one round his neck. As others have said, Sterling's done plenty to attract criticism during his career already, both on and off the pitch. There may or may not be an element of witchhunting about the sheer amount of criticism he's receiving at the moment but AFAIC there's bugger all evidence for the proposition that he's getting it because he's black.

Now there's rewriting of history apropos Ian Wright. He was a terrible pundit when he was dropped by the BBC. His schtick consisted of trying to be 'whacky' or ultra-patriotic. That was it. And he was routinely criticised for it by public and media alike. Eventually he returned, vowing that this time he was going to be serious and analytical. That's the Wright of today. And he is, at times, quite a decent pundit these days. But don't project that back to his previous stint as a pundit, when, as I said, he was awful and was most definitely not dropped because he was black!

Wow, that Twitter thread is ridiculous. If it isn't racism, then why is he getting that much abuse? Did the "love rat" shag the tabloid editors' mums?

Nothing related to Raheem and well over 10 years but always felt sorry for Barnes when put on a England shirt. Always remember that game with San Marino at half time when they were already 2-0 up. Was singled handedly packed out for boos by the fans for absolutely no reason at all. Maybe wrong but always felt I was defending Barnes in the playground when I was at school for some reason another after England games.

Yeah, John Barnes went through hell back then, for club and country.

Did you mean "well over ten years ago"? If so, yes it was well well well over

Ok maybe 20 but still don’t like to think about my age 🙂
Ashley Cole was I guess the other one but no one is going to ever have any sympathy for anyone marrying Cheryl.

He's the one they want to see fail so they get more headlines, pushing him til he cracks.

Thing is, though - he's not done a lot wrong off the pitch other than be a bit mercenary (why not though - if you don't love a club chasing trophies and cash makes sense - I would)

But you see him getting racist abuse in the street (a guy got jailed for it) and wonder what affect shite written in the press like this has on people doing that. I can't believe it doesn't - see also Johnson and the letterbox niqab thing...

On another note, I've decided Liverpool is full of sound people with generally sound opinions cos no one reads the scum... I'd like to test that theory but there you go

Could use this posters on the website in the same way I'd imagine no one actually reads it on here.
But there are plenty of other outlets that share a similar narrative to the paper it's not the only source of bile

Yeah but I think a healthy distrust of media permeates the city more than others... Given the shite I've heard elsewhere there's something to it...

That's an interesting theory. In fact it would be an interesting social experiment to pick a small town in the American Trump country and turn off Fox News there for a year or two. The effects might be surprising.

Anyone claiming that racism doesn't play a large part in this, needs to read this thread.

What a piece of shit the tabloids are.

Not that we needed reminding.

I wonder what the tabloids would come up with if somehow they had decided to give a random SCM poster a full Raheem treatment.

A fascinating experiment I truly wish it was done, it’s genuinely odd that a channel should basically put out full on propaganda 90% of them time... the original Fake news...

I have had filthy dreams about that former judge/milf fascist commentator they have tho... Shapiro is it? Judge something or other... I’m guilty...

I used to work with a Canadian mate in Spain, lovely fella not a dickhead good company over a bevvy after work, he actually watched FOX news as if it actually were news I just couldn’t understand it and pointed out repeatedly how scandalously fucking terrible it is but even then he wouldn’t agree nor change his viewing.

My dear ol mum, politically middle of the road, she continues to read the Daily mail.... which is basically The Lying Rag pretending to be a newspaper...

It’s a strange world eh...

The Mail is much craftier than that. It takes prosaic stuff that genuinely irritates millions of people - violent cyclists, pedestrians who walk out into the road without looking, shite reality TV shows, arrogantly intolerant students, badly run supermarkets, Coldplay, politicians who don't answer questions, incompetent banks, etc etc, then it wraps strands of bigotry and bile around all of that, trapping the middle aged middle Englander like a fly in a spider's web. In a very horrible way it's quite brilliantly done. The S*n, in comparison, is more like muzak with the occasional flash of tits.

Yeah, I genuinely think the Express & the Mail are the most dangerous papers in this country.

The people who read the likes of The Lying Rag are already bigoted fucking idiots, & I'd be willing to wager that a relatively small percentage of their 'readers' actually vote.

Mail & Express readers don't believe themselves to be racist, or bigoted, & tend to think of themselves as intelligent. However they're all of the generation who doesn't understand how or why you should fact check what you read in the press.

Macca is also correct, in that they are more clever in the way they wrap up their bile & lies around half truths & genuine grievances, making it seem less abrasive & calculated than it actually is. They've also managed to make their readers utterly mistrust almost the entire Internet over a long period of time, meaning that anyone who tries to use a source they've not heard of to contradict their lies is at an immediate disadvantage.

Bex nan, mum & stepdad all read both the mail & express, they steadfastly refuse to believe that it prints lies, despite me debunking countless articles they've written, which leads to many many arguments.

They're Bluenoses though,so arguments are inevitable.

I tend to think in many ways the Telegraph is worse. My grandad got talked into reading it over the mail by my stepnan but when you read it its the same layers of shite as the mail, but also builds a horrible sense of superiority into the whole thing ..

Pretty much the entire UK press / media is owned by Tories via offshore vehicles, and the BBC newsroom is made of similar stock. It's how we ended up with Farage being front page news for years, and the normalisation of idiotic austerity and massive tuition fees etc. Turning different parts of the disaffected against each other, blaming each other for their plight, keeping the population thick and skint while the 0.1% laugh their lizard cocks off.

Ah well. Never mind. Look everyone, there's that Raheem Sterling in a shiny new car. He's your enemy, like the trannies and the immigrants.

The press and politicians donwhat the fuck they like and say whatever outlandish statements they wish. They can misrepresent facts knowing there is no consequences. Heinz had to pull an advert over misrepresentating facts yet papers and political parties can keep rehashing them. We’re in an age where fucking advertising has a greater code of ethics to adhere to than journalism or politics.

Prior to my twitter sabbatical there was a great thread picking apart a daily mail article about immigrants in a French province. Every single point the journalist made was disproven yet people still believe what was reported.

Journalists can get to fuck and the same for politicians.
