So it's official, he's signed a three year deal.

I'm going to thoroughly enjoy listening to him complain about every aspect of the club and sow discontent amongst the supporters. At which point Amanda Staveley and whatever group of bandits she's working with will begin negotiations to buy Everton.

Brilliant appointment

It's fucking funny isn't it really. Like theeeeee most unpopular appointment they could have made. If he's still there in 12 months I will be astonished.

He will probably sign 5 players, blame Moshiri for the fact he didn't get a 6th, and let a positive start collapse by January

They've got themselves an excellent manager who, over time could do really well there.

However, he won't get time. What an odd choice of job for him. I suppose the lure of living in Liverpool was a big factor.

They've got a manager who couldn't match Steve Bruce's achievements at Newcastle.

Like the majority on here, I like Rafa but yeah, he's yesterday's man. I think the the fact that Steve Bruce has done a better job at Newcastle is telling. It's the same with Jose, they had a time and place but it's gone now. They played slow and defensive, things are a lot faster now and they haven't adapted.

Hopefully he doesn't get too much shit at Everton but it's not gonna be pretty.

Chelsea,Everton, who's next on the list of teams that you thought he would not want to manage...?

Would have had more respect for him had he not said disparaging things about the clubs when he was a Liverpool manager and just went on to manage them instead
If given the choice it is my belief that Everton Supporters would sooner have Roy Hodgson as their manager than Rafa Benitez

I don't care where he manages, but people love the narrative that Rafa loves LFC and "got" the fans and was effectively one of them.

If you fell for that narrative then you'll have difficulty reconciling his choices ever since leaving Liverpool.

That would be utopia.

In turth, and in short, Yes

Because you, the supporters either believed it, which makes it all the more of a betrayal by Rafa, or you knew what he was saying was just for show. Which means you knew that he would say whatever he thought would keep the supporters sweet and on his side, which draws into question his professed "love" of LFC

The only way Evertonains will expcet him as manage is if he brings suscess, which goes without saying, but more important for them is if he slangs off LFC while doing so

What was the issue before this appointment?
Going to Chelsea was really a problem? Newcastle?
Inter? Madrid?
Meh ...
I'm not even that fussed about him going to Everton - I just honestly hope their fans don't do anything stupid.

You mean like putting up threatening banners outside Goodison?

We'll see about that after he signs Neco and Keita for a combined £50m.

Honestly how I feel, he sees it as a job and a local one.
He’s contributed to our history and extensive sums to local funds including the 96.
Too old for demanding forever loyalty from our ex players and managers. We moved on, they did too and works both ways.
Couldn’t care less to be honest...

I for one haven't forgot what he did for the club. He turned us into one of the most feared teams in Europe. A status we didn't have for maybe like 20 years before he came.

If it wasn't for Chelsea buying everyone and us being owned by idiots, we would have probably had Javi Martinez, Villa, Alves, maybe even Aguero and we would have probably won the league earlier.
Anyway, I kinda wish him well even though it's Everton.

I'm pleased for Rafa getting a job close to his family and at a club where he won't have to win things to be considered a success, however I want him to lose every single game (apart from maybe City and Utd) as it's Everton after all.
He'll also need skin as thick as a rhino as the shit he got from Chelsea fans will be nothing compared to the bluenoses if he doesn't start well or has the temerity to wear anything with red in it.

I don't know if or how Benitez has evolved tactically, but you can easily see how Benitez's 4-2-3-1 fits with many of their existing squad.

On the pitch I think he could get it to work. Off the pitch is all set up for a Netflix Special of tears, politics and drama. Surprised he got a 3 year deal. The odds of that getting completed are miniscule.
