So another tiresome shit on the media from our beloved Rafa Benitez on Fergiescum....bitter this bitter that...money this....money that...blah blah blah.

He has been i would say above average when he managed us for 6 years. Few trophies. We all remember that.

Got sacked by Inter and now doing fuck all.

So what went wrong with him?? Stubborn? Rigid tactics? Squad rotation? Zonal marking? The little spat with Fergiescum? The shit he was involved with the owners and Purslow? What actually?

I would say this, if the reason got nothing to do with fucking football i.e the spat with Fergiescum and the owners, can he just fucking concentrate and build us the fucking sofa that he wants all his life since he was in Valencia?? ??

It wouldn't be the same. It's like being served by someone other than your favourite bar man. The beer is the same but it's not poured the way you like.

I notice he's no longer "Rafael" to you and hasn't been for some time. Did you two fall out?
He has his own things to do and i have mine. Rafael or Rafa doesn't really matter.

er, would i be completely wasting my time asking Glock for a link to Rafa's latest comments? do they actually exist?

Yes it would be a waste of time

Rafa's doing something good here. He's chipping away at a Fergie sorepoint, that no one else will. Let's be honest here. Fergie will be fuming. And maybe Rafa is helping out Kenny a wee bit. You never know, Kenny might approve and encourage this message!

Benitez: Fergie success down to money

Former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has played down Sir Alex Ferguson's role in the success of Manchester United, insisting that money has been the decisive factor in the club's triumphs and not the Scot's management skills.

Benitez and Ferguson were Premier League rivals for six seasons, with the pair's relationship in that time somewhat tempestuous.

And ahead of this weekend's clash between United and Liverpool, Benitez has opened up old wounds by questioning Ferguson's influence on the Red Devils' success in an interview with BBC Radio Merseyside.

After it was put to him that Ferguson's personality has been critical in driving United forward, Benitez responded: "No, I think it's the money they were spending. If you analyse the transfer record and the history ... Rooney, or Ferdinand, for example ... £30 million for a young player or a centre back.

"Every year they [United] are very well-off. It's not just because of the interviews or the press conferences; it's because they had money."

Benitez and Ferguson's troubled relationship came to a head during the 2008-09 season, when Liverpool ran United close before the Red Devils pipped them to the Premier League title.

During that campaign, Benitez delivered a pre-prepared critique of his opposite number, listing a series of "facts" that suggested Ferguson influenced both the Premier Leage fixture list and choice of match officials.

But Benitez has once again dismissed the notion that the infamous "facts" press conference was responsible for Liverpool's failure to beat United in the title race.

"To be fair, I didn't like it when the press was talking about mind games because I was just focused on my team, and the things I had to do for the team," Benitez said.

"If you say something in a press conference I can guarantee you that it has no impact on another manager. It can happen perhaps one in one hundred times, but the press likes to talk about mind games, but what they don't realize is that you cannot win mind games if you have a bad team.

"You can be the best in the press conference, but after, if you have a bad team you will lose. It's easy to talk about mind games when he [Ferguson] has a good team and he has won, and that was the case."

See now this is where Themn has/had a point.

I wouldn't mind if English was not Glock's first language. But you see, we all know it is. Soooooooo.....

a) What the fuck does that semi literate post actually mean so that we can discuss - although even if it was in English, I'm not sure many would want to discuss?
b) Why the fuck does he continue with this fake "I'm not really Irish/English" facade?

At least Paddy had the good grace to fuck right off when he was caught out for being a twat!

Do we all know his first language is English? When was that established?

His command of the English language is no worse than DB's or Man Spiders. .

Benitez is largely right, a lot of the success United have had is down to money. However even when the money disappeared for a while and Fergie had to sell players he managed to keep them at the top of the league.

He spent a fair bit himself and failed domestically, so I don't think he's really in a position to be throwing mud. United gave themselves a platform, this season is the first one in a while where they're really spent big, and when they have they've usually spent well and in positions where they needed it.

For example, if they needed a winger they would buy one, they wouldn't spend 5 years buying/chasing players for every position bar the main one that needed strengthening, like other managers have. Eh Rafa?

I'm not quite sure I understand where he's positioning himself these days...

Is it that he's making money by giving interviews etc.?

Is it that he's trying to maintain a high profile by ensuring he remains in peoples minds?

Whatever the case may be and regardless of whether he's right or wrong, I find that every passing comment chips away at the good will he left behind with me. It just all feels rather weird and obsessive.

It'd be one thing if he was done with the management thing and he's focusing on media now but that doesn't seem to be the case and it's like having some slightly obsessed ex hanging around whilst you and your new girl are trying to build a relationship.

Exactly.

All it does if anything is emphasise his obsessive and stubborn nature. He's still adopting the same stance over issues. It wasn't money that stopped us winning or even challenging for the title and the fact he's now jobless doesn't do him any favours when he's spouting about stuff like this in the press.

He's not really choosing his targets very well, regardless of whether he has a point or not.

The comeback is simply always going to be the fact that Ferguson has won everything time and time again while Benitez is unemployed!

yes United have had more money but its not as if they had a super rich backer who just pumped money in. They've made money off their success. Also Benitez should know as well as anyone that its not what you have, its how you use it.
