Given that many even most teams will park the bus and waste time next season.
Which players should we go for in the window. And what tactics do we need to change if any.
I believe many didn't employ the coach (bus) because our defense was so bad this season. That is not going to be the case if we fix it. They have also all seen chelsea's cowardice work.

I don't think we need to change much provided we play with a similar setup.

Where we need to concentrate imo is changing our speed to suit the match.

So once we're 2-0 up we can go back to 'death by football' like Rodgers had us playing when he came in.

However I suspect we'll see Suarez & Sturridge playing a lone role more often next season cos we have more games, if that is the case then I don't know whether the pace we play at will provide the same kind of dividends, that may be why we're looking at lallana, to provide more goals from midfield.

What we need is :
a) more creative players in MF/Wings to spread the paly more and drift pass their CM to then force their defenders into committing
b) pass the ball around faster, sometimes we slow it down so much my heart could stop and I'd still not miss anything and
c) stop passing it back and forth along the backline so much, giving teams all the time in the world to reorganise, if given a 50/50 option, try something, anything, to go forward not just pass it back to the defence, as we invariably seem to choose the later option.

Solution is simple: more players with guile and creativity. Speed will be less crucial, because more teams will play with numbers behind the ball against us, so there will be no space to run to. That's why Lallana seems like a smart purchase to me.

I think most teams will try to make it hard for us to score next season. Our surprise factor is gone.

Not too many teams have the patience, concentration and tactical discipline of Chelsea. We'll be okay.

In fact, I think teams will look at Palace and our Goals conceded column, and think they can actually get us if they attack us and not sit back, which may play into our hands next year if we've sorted it out by then.

But how do we get those two goals if they've parked the bus. would a big target man help, as Suarez Sturridge & Stirling are relatively light small and can't get crosses against huge defenders.

Would a large Drogba style target man work. Or would it wreck our style. Would he be happy on the bench if when not needed.

I agre re Lallana but. Given that he's very similar to Coutino and he didnt change the game v chelsea who or what do we need besides him to pick the lock .

We need to beat chelsea Twice to avenge our pride, and to win the Premiership. Just my opinion though.
I think most teams will be very wary of us especially if we strengthen up at the back. They will know after two games what to expect.

It would work as a plan B but I cant see Mr Rodgers implementing it.

We will never play with a targetman.

Im not worried about breaking teams down. Let them sit back. Teams did it against us this season and we still scored (except for chelsea). just because they know how we play doesnt mean they can stop it.

Agreed. We don't need a target man.

We need better movement and crisper passing when teams try and 'park the bus' against us.

Man City have shown the way this season in that you show a bit of patience and keep probing. We just need to follow that. Silva and to a lesser degree, Nasri, are key to it. Next year, Lallana and Coutinho will be our answer.

Easy..

We follow the Mourinho model and put our biggest centre half upfront and lump balls to him hoping we get a goal - surely that is tactical genius right there.

Kind of disagree that a lot of teams will park the bus. We have shown this season how dodgy our defence is and I think we will find more teams attempting to counter attack us numbers which will provide opportunities to find gaps.

I think we'll see both. Parking the bus, and hitting us on the break.

After watching city break down villa and then West ham, it's clear we need a lallana type player (for when Coutinho is having an off day) and full backs that can beat a man and play snappy 1-2's in tight spaces.

We also need to improve our shooting from distance.

We had what 11 shots from just outside the box against Chelsea and if one had gone in we'd be champions.

Quick passing tempo doesn't give the opposition time to regroup. Do much the same as we did this season but improved finishing from the front players will mean more goals.

Can everyone stop using the phrase park the bus please. It's ridiculous Maureen saying that has no place on an LFC forum. Try 'defend' or if you must, 'put men behind the ball. Thank you.

Stop being so defensive. Stop parking the bus.

Dont think so. There's millions of pounds at stake.

We are not going to be scoring more goals ! We scored 101 this season and the record is 103 !!

What we need is to tighten up the defence so that scoring 2 or 3 is enough to win us the match and not need 3 or 4 or 5.

Added creativity will come from Lallana and Kono if they are the two we get in MF.

We could have scored a lot more and broken the record, how do you know that we won't score more goals?

Tightening up the defence is a given after falling short.
